flood and drain medium question

ive got a 2x4 table plan on using 4 inch rockwool cubes...can the cubes just sit on the bottom of the tray or should there be something below them when the table is flooded?

you should get a couple of net pots to hold the cubes still. they will float arond when it flooded. plus your going to want more than just the rockwool later on cuz the roots cant really grow in light and get all dried out and brown. I suggest you atleast get a few liters of clay pebbles just to give more room for toot growth but your ok for a few weeks in just rockwool. you may be better off just using a drip tube though. saves on water.
