damn RUI, i've been gone for like a year on this site. im going to be starting a dwc system; something small, only problem is there is absolutely no rockwool around here. ive heard of people growing in perlite, but i was wondering if anyone knew if floral foam would work. its super cheap, easy to cut and shape, and wicks water like nobodys business

i would go with the peralite i have used it before just make sure to cover it up if u wet it and it gets light exposure
then u will have alge growing but a little h202 could solve the problem thats my answer have a growtasitc day

does floral foam disintegrate over time? i have no idea, i suggested it because its more sturdy than perlite so i thought it would support the stalk better

I think you would have drainage problems with the Oasis foam and possibly algae problems before finishing flowering. The clay pellets provide plenty of support for the plants. Once rooted, the pellets will be encased into the root ball as the roots expand and grow.

Hydrotron pellets is the easy way to grow, roots don't stick to it and it is re-usable and ph nuetral.

If you want to experiment, and can afford to lose a plant or two, then try out your floral foam, in a different res of course, and let us know what happens.
