Flowering time

When it comes to flowering time what are the benefits to a 'long' flowering time?
When it comes to flowering time what are the benefits to a 'short' flowering time?
Why one or the other?

Thanks ahead of time,

Your questions depends on strain and it isn't up to the grower.a indica flowered for 8 weeks can produce more than a sativa that flowered 12 weeks but the sativa might have a higher thc content, but as i said strain depending.if you mean vegging time its a different story

Mind you this is a newbie's thinking - (newbie to growing that is, not to this ole world) :)
My understanding is veg grow time is at the grower's discretion. (Another question would be -- what are the benefits to a longer veg time -- other than the likelyhood of a physically larger plant)?
When I asked about flowering time - I guess my question(s) has more to do with; does a longer flowering time create more potency, more yield, more something?
It seems that if longer flowering time did not provide more of something -- then why would one want a plant that took longer to arrive at a finished product?

you will get a higher yield the longer you veg longer veg= more bud sites for flower time it will get more potent the longer it goes but dont wanna go past peak ripe or you will start to lose potency

Everone seems to be answering you with veg time and you're asking abt flowering time. my understanding is the longer you flower the more the thc degrades ( amber trichs ) and you get more of a couchlock stone, whereas the shorter time ( cloudy trichs, 10 to 20% amber ) gives you more of ceribral high. of course as stated it depends on indica vrs sativa. that's my understanding.
