Flowering with CLFS first time grow

Hey everyone,

Today is the first day of flowering. I have three 18"plants growing in a bubbleponics system. I vegged for about 5 weeks and can already tell that all 3 plants are female. My question is about the type/amount of CFLs im using.

I vegged with 8 42watt 6500k bulbs and now flowering with 4 42watt 6500k and 4 42watt 2700k and 2 27watt 2700k. Do you this this is a good enough mixture or should I use more 2700k bulbs less 6500k? My concern is that I have some pretty massive thick plants and as my first grow I want to make sure the buds are worth the time.

Thanks

sounds to me like you have a good mixed spectrum. also 3 plants six bulbs is pretty much the lowest amount of light you need. your lighting is good for now, but i would add a few more bulbs as flowering gos along. maybe a little side lighting

That is a good mix and I would leave it as is. I would add only if there were areas you were not being able to reach, and then add 2700s. I'd also like to see a pic of how you have that many bulbs configured. Thanks, congrats on what sounds like a good grow!

I was thinking about adding two more 27 watt 2700k bulbs cause I already have them, Ill just need another fixture. The other thing to mention is that normally there is a sheet of foil over the top and around the sides that I removed for pictures so more light is being reflected back in.

If you can get some lighting on the sides, that's good for more even bud growth.
Looks like plants taking up all the room,
looks real good.

Do you think it would be worth it to put two tubes along the top of my rubbermaid, to reach the inside of the canopy? Two of my leaves touched the 42 watt bulbs for a couple hours and started to burn so I am worried that since the plants are taking up a lot of room, if I put lights on the side or bottom they will end up burning the leaves? Thanks

Seems like i always end up burning one or 2 leaves.
For what it's worth, in the BFL book, says it's ok if a leaf tip touches the light. Just don't let any bud touch.
Maybe you can just tie the branch/leaf away from the light a bit?

those plants are gonna get huge! I would definately add some side lighting, it will be a hassle to move the lights daily so they don't burn your plants, but that's the curse of the cfl grower I suppose. I know cuz thats what I use, and I end up movin my lights almost everyday!

get some 2700k on the sides for sure and on the top if you want. your plants look so heathly, with enough light you could pull a qp come harvest
