flowering??

got a quick question. me and a buddy of mine are getting our rooms together. his is up now. his babies are 5wks old, and 2ft tall. i'm trying to get him to flower, but he wants to cut off the fan leaves, they are pretty big too(biggest leaves are 7-8in across).but my question is, is it too early too cut those fan leaves off? if it is too early how much will it hurt, and if it is not too early how much will it help?

Dont cut them off ... for many reason damn (try to move them out the way of the bud spots or cut a couple off not many ...
as they hold in Nutes and the plant uses the Energy off Photosynthesis

Yh if the leafs are mega big then the better (i guess your useing a hps yh)
well we've got two 400 hps about 2ft apart. like i siad we only have 6 plants from bagseed(really good shit by the way). i wanted to do more but was concerned about light distribution. i know that one 400 should cover roughly 4'x4', so the two should cover about 4'x8' i guess. or does it really depend on the hieght of the light(i.e. the higher the light the more coverage)

Well its mainly about :lumen intentisty
most 400w hps's have about 55,000 lumens a square ft (a 400w will grow 1-6 plants all the way though Vegging and Flowering
so you have 2 hps's so you have
55,000 lumens x (times) 2 the coverage (as lumen dont add up)
2 400w hps's will grow about 6-12 plants nicely
remember having nice white paint will help the lumen intentisty better at the bottom

also, I'm not considering myself a first time grower because this is not a solo project, but anyway i'm new to this sight and some of the pics are amazing. but i got one question,HOW IN THE HELL are guys getting so many colas on one plant i just don't understand it, and how is this possible on plants that look like they are not even a good 12 to 18 inches tall. How? please for the love of GOD somebody tell me!! because I'm tired of looking at the pics on the post of all you guys pretty girls, and then i have to go home to my bitches and yell at them cause they don't look as good as the other guy's girls.LOL. but the CO2 is probably good for them.LOL

i dont understand how many colas do you get (How high is the hps to the top of the plants ...
and it all depends on the strain some only have one big ass cola on the main stem

But dude for real with 2 x 400w hps's sould get you fat buds (how long do you vegg for and flower for (remember different strains have different flowering times)
some take 6-7 weeks some even 9-12 weeks just in flowering not inc.. vegging which i allwayz do 4-5 weeks vegging

Those nice bushy 2ft plants are usually from clones. The branch is well established. You can get an auto-flowering strain like lowryders, they're short & flower by time, not light cycle...As for multiple tops thats done by topping..(see FAQ, trimming, harvest, around there)
Stop trying to out do everyones pic's, you need a plant first...fancy ass plant 2nd...don't put too many balls into the air until you know your stuff a bit more...LUCK... READ FAQ... great stuff
i was led to believe it cuold be done by topping, or fimming, the only thing is dont know how to do it correctly ifthats how its done at all. but check out GROW BIG OR GO HOME's journal, that's one of the examples i was reffering to.

this is the beginning of wk 6 from seed, so 5 wks vegging total. but twistyman mentioned the lowryder strain, now maybe i'm naive,or just fresh and new to the game, but in Tx.you cant find any real strains. mostly everyone "I" know is just using bagseeds like me. unless they took a trip to CAN. or to dutch country. but "me" myself i don't know where to get any real killer strains. see down here they are really screwing the game up by over pricing. Its amazing these guys would not even know white

hey twistyman! if i can figure out how to get my pics off of my sprint email account and get them on here i would love to show you guys what we are working with. like i said i not calling this "MY" first grow because its too much of a joint effort(no pun intended)you know, too many chefs in the kitchen, but its his house and my lights. but this is a real good test run, so when my room is ready i will be pretty much coming out of the gates smoking (no pun intended).
