Flush and Dark Period?!

What's up my RIU friends! I am 3 weeks away from harvest. I want to know how long I should flush. I've read anywhere from 1-3 weeks. I am also wondering about leaving the plants in the dark prior to harvest. I've read people leave'em in the dark anywhere from 3-5 days. Does it make your harvest better? All thoughts and opinions are appreciated! Have a good one! :joint:

My thoughts and opinions are:
cutting back nutes and flushing for a longer period then 7 days---No! I think it makes the girls too open to disease as I flush her nutes and she becomes weak... I flush one week only.
I do toss my girls in the dark for 2 days yes. I see fatter buds.
I wash my girls with a sprayer and a bit of h202 and bleach no more then 3% real weak.
Trim shade leaves----wash her let stand for the day that night in the dark two days later pull out toss her in the light for an hour or two and wack!
Toss her in a dark room with little circulation about 80 degrees for a week to 10 day dry out then off to be cured for a month.
Then Crypto Perfecto Sweet Chronic found in your local dispensary.
Pic is before going black and had been washed and make sure she is dry and the soil is about ready for another watering---toss in a 1/2 gal of RO water and let drain off and that night is her last night>View attachment 1047303

cutting off the fan leaves before the dark is a terrible idea, the 2 points of the extended dark period before harvest theory is 1. Thc is degraded by light, thats what its there to do. Your plant of course builds its levels back up over the night since its not having any light hit it to break down the thc. I usually just do 24 of dark, you can only increase the thc content so much and after that amount of time its at its max and cant get any higher. 2. The plant is put in the dark so it will think its dying and in a last ditch effort to live and get pollinated will suck up every bit of remaining energy into the buds it can, the fan leaves are where most of the energy they store is.
Im not a real strong believer on the effectiveness of the second reason myself, but if it works for you more power to you. lol

Yes but dealing with the big fan leaves are bit of a pain plus I figure she can pull any energy she can off the littler fan leaves or Bud leaves that are usually about 1/3 smaller then a fan, I don't know if it is bad or good to hit the shade leaves the day before harvest. I just hate trying to snip all the stems out of the bud after they get dry and tight. Easier when they are sticking out sideways and I can get them with my scissors. I don't care one way or the other my shit is stoney and last about an hour and half of full strength.

The dark period is a waste of time. There is no visual evidence that it does anything and in a blind test, you could never tell the difference. Experiment with it but you'll agree if you're honest with yourself.

I think flushing is over stressed. If you fed your girls exactly what they needed during flower, 10 days of flushing or the last 2-3 waterings should be sufficient. If you find that you need to flush longer than that, you probably over fed.

only way to know if your plants are flushed properly is to check your PPM/EC of your run off when u flush your plants desolved solids u wanna be between 0 - 100K's(this is when flushing in soil)

"The Stichting Institute of Medical marijuana(SIMM), the first company to sell marijuana through the pharmacies of Holland, has been investigating the medical possibilities of cannabis, together with TNO laboratories and the University of Leiden. One of their discoveries has been that to keep the ripe plants in the dark before harvesting could increase their potency.

SIMM’s growers separated a crop of mature plants, harvested half of them and kept the other half in absolute darkness for 72 hours before cutting and drying. Analysis of the resulting dried buds showed that some varieties had seen an increase of THC of up to 30%, while CBD and CBN remained the same."

Brick, got a link to that study? The conclusion is a little vague in that only some varieties saw an increase of up to 30%. I'd like to know what the average increase was and how many varieties actually saw that average increase. I know from my own experiences that I noticed nothing.

You manicure after harvest, not the day before. Is this your first grow? because you dont seem to know what your doing when it comes harvesting time, the plant dont dry right after you chop it, it will take a few days at least of drying, So why not wait till after you chop? i no offense of course. Your only hurting yourself and your plant. anyway, since you dont care either way
