Flushing time release nutes.

screen.jpgnew 005.jpg I have 2 beautiful girls who have had a minor over fert. problem from scratch. I used MG time release fert. soil and even added a cup of Osmocote time release nutes to the mix, with perlite. I,ve had very slightly burnt leaf tips and the claw from the beginning. I,m wondering if I can give them a long flush before entering the final phase of flowering and clear their systems of nutes. I,d also like to add my MG 7-50-7 at least once before the final 2 weeks, but with the time release nitrogen already in the soil, I can't. Would a long flush clear out all the time release nutes?

If you are far into flower, I would just let them deal with it. If you are still in vegg though, replanting with diff soil would be the way to go.

I,m about 2 to 2-1/2 weeks into flowering and noticing curling and usual signs of over fertilization. I just want to finish with clean, smooth tasting buds. Guess I,ll let it run its course naturally and flush the final week maybe.

I don,t have a ph tester, yet, but the plants are 2 months old. I think the nutes are rated for 4-6 months, what ever that MG potting mix is. I think that next time I will use straight soil, perlite and add my fish emulsion, molassus and wod ash.Control it a little closer. The mg didnt kill them, and in all fairness to Mg, I think they would have grown carefree if I hadnt added the extra time release Osmocote, but on my 1st grow I wanted to grow the worlds best plants and maybe over did it. The ability to flush time release nutes is frustrating though, as I want to add flowering bloom booster now and can,t.

They look fairly good right now. But if you haven't flushed them lately, now is a great time to do so. I believe in proactive flushing, that is, flushing to prevent problems, instead of fixing them.

My best advice for effective flushing is to use warm water. I have this spot by my fridge and it puts off heat, and when I set my RO jug by it overnight, the water is warm enough to bath in, perfect for flushing. People think flushing means rapid release of an insane amount of water. Use the warm water, wait about a half hour, and do it again. The first time breaks up the salts and mineral build ups, the second time gets 'em out.

IF you already do it this way, great, but anytime I give flush advice, I always like to cover my bases and make sure people don't sit there with a hose and force feed 5 gallons of cold water on an already sick plant.

Thanks for the advice, I will try the warm water. I usually do all my watering in slow steps like you say. Just seems more effective that way.
