fluxing?

If you're talking about indoor grows, I think that the best use of space is to try and produce a plant structure that has an even canopy. This will allow you to get better light coverage to all of the colas. Never really heard of fluxing-I manifold all of my plants with trellis netting and weave the branches to lay over during veg and then have a veritable sea of secondary colas develop during flower. When I manifold I usually wait until I have 4 sets of nodes on the stalk-the main thing I try to do is give the plant enough recovery time before I top again.

On outdoor grows, I'd say that what I focused on was to develop a structure that gave me the number of main colas I wanted and then attempt to train the side stems to maximize their exposure to the sun. That's really the only thing I could do to impact any lighting on the plant. Doing any mainlining or fluxing outdoors has to have enough time for the plant to get to the shape you want before the days start to get shorter.
