Foliar Feeding - A Success Story

I have read many things over the years about foliar feeding. One person says it's great, the other person says it does nothing. Well, I'm here to attest to the almost immediate benefits of foliar feeding. Here's my most recent story:

In my current pheno hunt for Ice Cream by Paradise seeds (which I used to grow a lot years ago, but haven't grown until this latest hunt) I've been noticing yellowing on the new growth shoots and it has been bugging me. Once the leaves develop more, they get to a luscious green, but I'm a bit of a perfectionist and it irks me to see this as I'm not used to it. I've fucked around with Ph adjustments (which, I let my Ph in hydro float between 5.5 - 5.9 anyway), I've upped the nutes, done rez changes, adjusted lighting, etc. Still, the yellowing has continued.

Well, I finally went back to something I used to do in my newbie days, but haven't for years. I decided to try foliar feeding again. Yesterday morning, I raised my lights and shut some off to dim my mother, veg, clone room and mixed up some Ph adjusted Botanicare Pro Grow and Liquid Karma (150ppm each, 300ppm total). The key to foliar feeding is spraying the undersides of the leaves where the stomata reside (Google stomata, it's good to know what they are and how plant leaves are naturally designed). Here, I'll make it even easier for you (link): http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stoma I made sure to mist the undersides of all of my newly transplanted clones, both older and new growth. I also aimed my fan at my mothers and thoroughly misted them as well (it was easier with the fan for the larger mothers). I then let them rest under the dimmed lights, with fans running, for several hours until all the droplets had either been absorbed or evaporated.

When I went back into the room yesterday evening, I was very pleasantly surprised (not shocked...I know how fast this plant can respond, good or bad) to see that the yellowing had reduced by at least 60%. I shit you not. This morning, the yellowing was 90% gone. It is one of the quickest transitions I've seen (other than plants wilting, dying, or cannibalizing) in all my years.

100%, without a doubt, the results don't lie, foliar feeding worked for this issue. It's not a fix all, but I'll be damned if I didn't raise an eyebrow at the results. Not much surprises me these days, but it's always nice to have a tool in your bag of tricks for problem children. Growing cannabis is just like any of my other hobbies, be it reef keeping, reptile breeding, fishing, etc. You never stop learning. I will always be a student of Mother Nature. Bless
