Hi all Im Jay.

Im a first time grower, at my early stage of bloom of 10 northern lights girls and they'r coming on strong.
I am not here to brag or tell anyone how they should grow or techniques at all. I am here just to point out some newby mistakes and oversights I made up 'till now. Because it's taken 'till now to get them right.

At the moment, the 2 tents and ducting etc are all working fine, got two side by side tents,- 600w hps 5 in each tent. Both scrubbed, negative pressure and odour free. Fine looking strong plants with good hum and temp ranges in both.

I have had SO many nights where noise, smells, and conditions have drove me insane with stress and paranoia that I said never again.

I found its not about the growing styles and techniques you want to worry about, its all this other bullshit you gotta get right.

PH -always do the right ph, find out what it should be and do it every time.

Drainage - if your hand watering, drain all the waste. never let them sit in it.

Follow the back of the bottle for feeding - don't use online calculators etc. if the bottle says 20m per 5 ltr, just do it.

Smells - man!! this can be a problem even when you got filters. Can I blow excess into the filter? Do i go through the filter first then out? I have had to get in the room quick, at night, stoned, stressed, and panicking cause something stopped working, and woke up to that fresh skunk smell. Main advice here, is make duct routes as short and keep the system as compact as possible. the shorter the pipe and the less the bends, the more the tent sucks in. which is what you want. secure the joins with tape or clips tight, seal all inlets except your fresh air intake. get your tent to SUCK IN if you can. CHECK the arrow of direction when fitting your inline fan. I changed my system around a bit and tried a new way of extraction, and in 'stupid mode' fitted the exctractor the wrong way. didnt find out till the morning when my flat was stinking with skunk and my tent puffed out. had positive pressure cause I fitted it wrong.

Noise - there are some great youtube vids about reducing fan noise, using cardboard, tape and filler. Awesome, a big big peace of mind this is. This reduces noise drastically. . again me and my partner have been in there at lights off stage, feeling your way in the dark getting in and out of tents with green head torches, stoned, paranoid fixing ducting and taping things up late at night, I swear these nights are major stressful.

Light - Don't take shortcuts covering your inner window, I wallpapered over the inner reveal, two pairs of curtains. not a speck can leak out.

Space - Dont overload you'r space, thinking ah I'll just have to be careful getting in and out... not gonna happen. I had 10 in one tent, then split em 5 in each. You need enough room in there, so if you gotta get in there in the DARK you can push the plants and/or move the light so you can create a narrow 'L' shape. even two people could get in if you must. *if your duct slips off the filter at night.... you smell skunk so you gotta fix it quick. .. one can assist one can fix. You also don't want to be banging your head on the light when you get in, it must be on pulley style fixings.

All in all that's about it for my lessons in 'growing'. All this stress and WORK and that's without worrying about growing techniques ect. Keep the actual growing as simple as you can. follow the bottle, trim rarely and let them grow. Because it's all this other stuff that must run smooth, and is my main focus, no more stress (hopefully)

thanks for reading good luck folks.
