Force flowering outdoors?

Hey all,

I have a nice little plant on the go at the moment outdoors but due to circumstance it will have to be pulled early. Normally I would let them see through the season and flower naturally so I have never tried to force flowering before.

A few things spring to mind.

Firstly how long should I give it to complete flowering?
Second, is 12/12 the normal or can I give it less than 12 of Sun, would 10 be better?
Third, what would be the best material I can find to cut the Sun out, I was thinking to buy a small greenhouse and then wrap it in dark material being careful not to let in any light so I can just place the frame over it every night. Does that sound about right?

Anyway, just a couple of things. Any tips would be great.

how long to complete flowering depends on ur strain...
12/12 will giv u max yield but i wld recommend goin down to 11/13 and 10/14 is also fine.....it will decrease your harvest time but yield will b a bit less...
u can use those small green houses wrapped with a dark material...
what i had done once was just used a black plastic cover n put it on top of the plant holding its edges by bricks n from the bottom i had torn 2-3 say 4 inch diameter holes ...enough to ventilate it but nt enough fr the light to reach in ...well may b ur few bottom nodes might nt flower but i dont care..cuz u hav the upper portion all flowered

Cheers for the reply, the strain is Bubblelicious, it does say 8-10 weeks for flower which if that holds true on a smaller plant means I need to get cracking.
11 hours sounds good to me, pretty sure I can manage that.

If I was to change the cycle now should I give it one last veg feed or go straight to the flower stuff?

Halfnhalf seems reasonable, I'll try that out.
Shame I got to do this so early but oh well, I have two AF seedlings on the go to so they will be a gamble to be ready in time too.

It's not huge, this was taken a week ago and to be fair it has since gone up a few inches and now leaves are down the sides of the pot. I'd say it has doubled in size easily since that pic. Looks healthy at least.
The other two are just seedlings at the moment.

I give mine only about 10 hours of darkness and that's enough to trip them to flower

you could consider covering the plants with a bag or cardboard box to achieve darkness

The way I figure is the sun goes down just after 9pm here so if I cover it when it's completely dark I know I can uncover it by at least 10am everyday so that should be alright I think.
I do have a little storage room inside I will probably use until I can find a suitable thing to cover it with but it's not well ventilated and is quite warm, mid twenties celcius.

the heat and lack of air movement is an issue....I have used the bathroom as a dark room, and leave the bathroom fan running, and maybe a small oscillating fan

Yeah, it's really stuffy in there and it's not my first choice for sure, the boxes may be an idea. We have some movers boxes so I can probably fashion something big enough out of two or 3 of them duct taped together. Unless I see something in the mean time I will seriously consider this.

Cheers, it's a tough choice really.
She is growing so well right now but we will be moving house and the stated 8-10 week time for flowering puts it bang in the middle of the move and no way will I be driving with a tree in the car so it looks like I will have to start right now. I may give it to the weekend for veg then start covering it and hope it comes along quickly.

The storage room is the best bet.
The plant is small enough that it will be easy to carry back and forth even after stretch.
A corrugated box would work outdoors as a cover, but what about heavy rain and wind. Yuck... soggy mess, poor ventilation.
Simply get a small fan for you storage room and you will be A OK.
Just remember to move it back and forth every day!

Yeah, I think I'll do it Wednsday after a feed, tomorrow it's supposed to rain so I'd like to let it get a bit of that as it might be the last rain for the summer.
I normally take a pretty laxed view to growing, as you say it pretty much does it itself especially outdoors but never had to trigger the flowering before. I agree with the nutes, opefully what I use will be fine.

I might try it in the room initially at least until it starts to get stinky or I make a better solution. It can get pretty windy here so anything outdoors will need securing which is a faff.
Moving it isn't a real problem, remembering shouldn't be either.

Yeah, I'm going to bring it in tonight or tomorrow and work on maybe getting some circulation in there. I should know in a day or two if it will be fine or too stuffy.
