freeze drying

I ran across a simple system for freeze drying bud awhile back for dry hash prep. Dry ice. very quick. Has anyone tried this? Basicly you just layer dry ice and bud in a cooler that has a couple holes. As the dry ice evaporates it takes the moisture with it. Leaves that grass green taste because it does not damage the chlorophyl but that shouldn't matter with hash making. Or does it? Just curious...

I just did my first harvest. I do not know much about all of this growing but i do have a slight experience with Dry Ice. I did not use the Dry Ice during the harvest or the Cure stage but i did use it during the flower stage of the plant. I used a few pounds and placed it into a Tea Pot. I would have to heat up the tea pot multiple times. The bud appears to have become rather dense. Almost as though the pure O2 from the Dry Ice went into all the little places in the flower and made the swell to suck in the goodness from the Dry Ice. Afterwards the buds stayed swollen and i ended up harvesting 2 OZ from my little plant. That might be due to genetics. Im not sure. But i would feel the buds before the Dry Ice and after and there was a considerable difference with how dense a nug was.

different application. My legal grow I can grow and harvest more than I can dry and cure within legal weight limits. So I figure if I use a fast dry (likely 80 degree forced air) I can then "dry hash" or freeze the fresh bud to make "bubble". I'm just curious about the dry ice method. Sounds like needless cost but I'm always interested in "How and why".
