From now to harvest?

Hey folks!

Im doing my first grow of the the strain critical jack(6 of them) and sweet deep grapefruit(16) and they are now some 3 weeks into flowering. I was wondering if anyone has some experience with these particular strains and how much time, considering how they look now, it will take before harvest? And also if there is a way to speed up the process?

I have a bit of a time issue so im hoping the they can be ready before 15 of december. Looking at the description of the strain both of them should take 50 days in total, which would be fine, but I suppose it will take longer. Temperature lies from 18 degrees Celsius to 27.

Would higher temperatures speed up the flowering process?

You're just getting started with flowering, maybe mid-January.

You'll lose big weight and potency cutting those by by Dec 15, I don't think they'll be ready.

Higher temps help to a point, around 85F, but higher than that the plant shuts down.

You can't make a plant be ready sooner than it's ready....more heat will do nothing.

Really? Here all along I thought plant processes speed up as temperature rises, to the point where respiration exceeded photosynthesis.

No matter what, you're almost always looking at a full 8 weeks of flower, or more. And that's just "ready" for harvesting, not smoking. Proper dry and cure needs another 6 weeks or so. So even with an early January harvest, it'll be properly ready for smoking around the end of February.

By December 15th they will be in week 6 flower or about 42 Days flower. If they are going to be taken then because you are going home for break I'd suggest adding UVB florecents asap. The other thing is the last week, cut the flower cycle to 14hrs darkness/10 lights on. The uvb speeds up ripening of the trichcomes a little. CO2 and reducing the lights that last week are the only things I know that could help if they must be taken. Be careful with the smell of drying plants if you leave over break. lol

I had a chocolope that got a big dose of Ozone air for a few days and died at week 6. woops It was a great up high for being taken so early. But you will lose lots of weight if you take them that early.

Having dealt with mid-80's temps all summer long I wished that it would have decreased flower time, but all of them took just as long during that long period of heat as when they were in cooler temps.....and my yields were down by 20%.

I not expecting to be able to smoke the plants before the 15, the idea was to leave them for dry during the break. I really want the plants to do their best so if theyre not ready or close to it before that time I might get someone to care for them, we'll see.

If you chop on the 15th and then hang dry it for that amount of time you will basically end up with regs at the end.
Next time I would recommend checking your schedule before starting a grow and making sure you have an adequate amount of time.
Otherwise you are taking risk and wasting money for very poor end results.
