I have a plant about 5 weeks into flowering and she isn't frosting up yet, the flower size is decent enough that theyre almost tipping over its sativa so i know I've got a few more weeks to go but should i be worried??
 
At 5 weeks your plants should be very frosty, if it's in the genetics and it also depends on the growers skill. However sativas can take up to 11 weeks to finish or more so the frost may come later. Can you post a pic?
 
Be patient. Some strains can be slower than others to begin to show a frost. If your doing everything else right, it'll be fine.
 
And no we're not joking.......6 if your lucky.....but.......at the end their will be some proper FIRE to be had if like cob said you do things right and keep it simple......not the best pics I've posted but have a look .......both boxes3ft high+21/2ft wide 21/2 deep.....couldn't fit anouther CRISP in their it's that packed....

Something is wrong. They should be covered in resins and trichomes after 5 weeks regardless of the variety. Unless its not a good strain or bad genetics, I think you need to look at what you are feeding and figure out what is going on. What nutrients are you using? Potassium silicate is primarily responsible for resins and trichome production. If you look at any of the "resin building" products they are usually higher in K.

WRONG!
 
To cut my point short I was referring to his question directly regarding nutrients and feeding.

Obviously what I thought when he asked the question was I was under the assumption his environment is ideal and he is using good lighting and good genetics.

The main factors in resin production are lighting the source and type, and the environment including temp and humidity which all play a role in trichome production. I was assuming all of these things were good. So I answered the question taking these elements into context by explaining that he should look at what he is providing the plants for nutrients. And yes potassium silicate is directly responsible for resin and trichome production including bud production and plant health.

By week 5 your flowers should be covered in a good amount of resins and trichomes regardless of the variety. I have never found a strain that I dont have resin by week 3. But this is because I have a dialed in room, good genetics and good lighting (I just figured this wasnt his issue) so I focused on nutrients and feeding. I find that a majority of issues regarding trichome production and lack of resins and trichs is from over feeding or under feeding base nutrients. Simple shit like that goes along way.
