I went to check on my grow, recently moved... Now there are small little flies that look like fruit flies around my plants. Don't know if that's a problem or how to fix it... Suggestions?
I searched this for three days. The flies are harmless to the plant. But they breed in the soil. You are keeping the soil to wet. Now remedies are get some vinegar and put it in a jar poke holes in the lid they will get trapped. Another is take one in of soil out and replace with sand that should kill the eggs. The flies live for two weeks also they can lay up too 250eggs in that life cycle. If you want to go the extra mile on this one put bleach down all drains and make sure trashcans are clean. They are attracted to the smell.
Good luck hope it helps.
Btw they prolly came from soil Check the bag

also read somewhere about putting potato slices around the stalk, something about the flies laying their eggs there vs the soil. then just toss the potato slice out after a few days, away goes the larvae. i think sand is the better option though.
