Fruit Punch and Big Bud No.1 Under CFl's in my shed :)

This is a diary thread. I don't yet know how to work with a journal so this is what you got!
:)

I have another two threads ongoing currently.
One is my first grow of bagseed Haze and the build of my cab (which is still ongoing), and the second thread is another diary type covering the progress of some Exodus Cheese clones.

https://www.rollitup.org/indoor-growing/478214-experimental-micro-grow-cfls-1st.html

https://www.rollitup.org/indoor-growing/490062-exodus-cheese-clones-cfls-only.html

This thread is, however, a diary to monitor the progress of two seeds.
One is the Heavyweight Fruit Punch (Feminised);
http://www.herbiespicknmixseeds.com/single-pick-n-mix-heavyweight-fruit-punch-feminised-seeds-2554

And the other is for Doggies Nuts Big Bud #1 (Regular, not feminised);
http://www.herbiespicknmixseeds.com/single-pick-n-mix-doggies-nuts-big-bud-1-feminised-seeds-1496

Both were planted on 25.11.11
First one popped today and the other is viewable at the surface ready to pop, perhaps tomorrow :)
They're both planted into Root Riot cubes and currently sitting in my propagator inside my new veg cab - check my first thread for the build details.

I'm still undecided as to when to flower them, but be sure that I will!
I will attempt to add pics weekly to this thread as with my others.

I spent a fair bit of time looking for pics of this strain before planting and found none... so hopefully this thread will be useful to someone later on :)

Enjoy!

Doggies Nuts, lol, never heard of that one before but it looks like a winner for sure. You know, I'm really liking those Root Riot & Rapid Rooter plugs, don't know if one brand is better however my LHS said there practically the same. They also come in flats or trays of 24-50 squares instead of the round tapered plugs and a guy at the hydro shop said they work fantastic, much easier to work with than the plugs especially if your growing large quantities of clones/seedlings, check em out:

Oh, wait, the pictures I posted aren't of the ones I'm referring to, I can't seem to find them online but they come in a flat of 50 squares stuck together and you have to cut them apart, there not tapered like the ones above because there designed to fit into a plastic flat insert. Anyway, I'm sure they all work great and I love how there pre-moistened, PH balanced and ready to go, very practical for a commercial or collective grower.
Well I can't wait to see how that Doggies Nuts Big Bud comes out, keep up the good growing and take care.

Thanks man, I try my best :)

Aye it's the tray style that I have... I take them out though, as I only use one or two at a time. Get them in an aeroponics propagator and you'll roots like you've never seen! I'd like to get one, but a tad out of my budget range right now...

You know its funny you mention a bubble cloner because I just read a post on THC farmer where a guy mentions he built a DIY clone bubbler 5-6yrs ago and he hasn't looked back since. He said it was very simple and cheap to build and by far the EASIEST way to root clones hes every tried. All you really need is a bucket or plastic container with a lid, bubble stones/wands at the bottom connected to a air pump, 1 1/2-2" holes drilled in the lid and neaprene inserts to hold the clones, you can get everything you need a your LHS (local hydro shop), Wall Mart or at a hardware store pretty dam cheap to. I was thinking of building one but unfortunately I don't have enough power to run a flowering and vegging space, old wiring in our duplex, lol, if you try to run the vacuum, microwave, washing machine and a hair dryer at the same time it trips a breaker, F-ing slum lords, lol, JK. Here's a link to the thread I was referring to: Its post #10 (---->CLICK HERE<----)

Yeah that's awesome man. I want to consider a system like that once I get my shit together!
I got to move house next year too so I can't get too involved just now. But when I do... LoL

I guess I shouldn't really be as excited as I am lol But I take into account that my first grow has been bag seed whereas these ones are actual ones that I've gone out and bought.
So I really deserve this excitement lol
:clap:
Can anyone advise me as to when these puppies are best potted up and given full light?
My mate says it's when they start showing roots poking through the cubes, but I've seen these cubes in other grows where the roots are positively covering the entire cube! before they even think about potting up...

i agree you deserve a little excitement :-)

i'd wait until i saw the first signs of roots and pot them (but i have never used root riot cubes so i could be wrong)... i'd repot them so the soil level came up to about 1 inch from them little round leaves... you dont want stretchy stems

Potted up last night and they're looking like they love it!

Bought two new blue bulbs as I was previously using this cab as a flowering cab and intend to get some more soon.

Looking great so far!

Lovely green colouring and healthy looking shoots.
The Big Bud is looking kinda cabbagy, but I'm guessing it's just the strain. And Fruit Punch is looking like it wants to just go crazy!

Looking forward to the next few weeks of growth with these two.

Still in the first week of veg. 13 days from seed.

Pics from yesterday as the site was giving me gyp. But they've actually grown a lot more since yesterday. I'll try to leave pics for a few days now, so that the next ones show a lot more growth. :sleep:

Veg, end of week 1.

Doggies Nuts, Big Bud #1

Heavyweight, Fruit Punch;

Lots of new growth in node regions and top.

I'm wondering when I should think about topping these. I do intend to keep them as Mothers for at least one run maybe two. So I do need to keep them stupidly short.
Any suggestions for me?
