That's what i used to think! When i first found this site in college 9 years ago i thought you all were a bunch of nerds I just simply wanted to smoke weed...which led me to grow it but that was all too much. A photoperiod seemed crazy! Months of my life to MAYBE get bud i just didn't think it was worth it. I especially thought cloning was crazy lol GROW A PLANT JUST TO CUT A PART OFF AND START OVER WITH THAT ONE i just didn't see it applicable.
Fast forward to today and ill probably never grow another autoflower again (never say never i still have some seeds) thanks to my first attempt at cloning and I owe it all to you "nerds" on this site. Many years i was scared to get into cloning because it just seemed too idk scientific lol...but im proud to announce i had 1005 success rate on my first go round and cant wait to see how these clones finish.
So how id we get here...
THE MOTHER: 1 of 3 cookies USA seeds. She sprouted first and grew more rapid than the other 2 who were transplanted outdoors into 20 gallon smart pots. She started in a red solo cup, outgrew that and was transplanted to a 5 gallon where she QUICKLY (see pics) outgrew that and was then put into a 15 or 20 (idk) smart pot.
METHOD: 10 clones were taken around month 2 of veg on the mother. Rockwool soaked (over-soaked) in a ph balanced mix of botanicare pure blend pro @ 1/4 strength. The clones were dipped in clonex, put into the rockwool and then they were all sat in a cloning tray, sprayed with the 1/4th nute mix and put under the same light as the mom.
SINCE THEN: The clones looked like SHIT lol, for 2 weeks they just looked sad every time I took the dome off but would perk up when sprayed and covered with the dome. Roots started barely growing around week 3 at the top of the rockwall cubes...this was mot likely due to the cubes being too wet and the drier, top part being exposed to air daily. I Stopped spraying them and just opened the dome every day for the last week, also by this time the vents on the dome were all the way open. This is when i started to see the clones improve and roots starting to show.
By week 5 i could see roots out of about 2 of 10 clones so I decided to transplant. Im on a budget so I got some cheap soil from walmart ( not miracle grow but not the best either) and transplanted them all to 1 gallon pots. They were then moved to a tent under a HLG 100 and watered with the appropriate amount of pure blend pro grow till today. Finally Finally Finally they have bounced back after much abuse and are vegging away! Im going to let them get to 9 inches and then flip them.
