A few days after a teenager sold dozens of cookie boxes outside a San Francisco pot dispensary, 8-year-old Lexi Menees is returning to TruMed Dispensary in Phoenix on Saturday for the same purpose.

Lexi and her parents came on Friday with between 100 and 150 boxes to sell. Her family said they sold more than 50.

“It’s better than she would’ve gotten outside a grocery store,” said Justin Menees, Lexi’s father.

Girl Scouts officials said they aren’t surprised there are copycats after the story of 13-year-old San Francisco Girl Scout Danielle Lei went viral on social media and various news outlets. Lei set up a cookie table Monday outside The Green Cross, a licensed marijuana dispensary in that city’s Mission district.

The feelings of Girl Scouts officials on the matter seem to vary state to state. Earlier this month, reports about Girl Scouts implementing the same strategy in Colorado, where recreational marijuana is now legal, turned out to be a hoax. The Girl Scouts of Colorado issued a statement on its Facebook page Friday to dispel the rumour, effectively prohibiting members from selling at a dispensary.

“We recognize these are legitimate businesses, but we don’t feel they are an appropriate place for girls to be selling cookies in Colorado,” the organization said.

Carney said she and her husband simply told Lexi they would try setting up in front of a facility that is similar to a pharmacy, where people go to get their medicine.

“She doesn’t even know where she’s at. It’s more entrepreneurial,” Carney said. “She’s trying to go to camp this summer.”

That's some smart salesmanship there.

San Francisco ain't in Arizona.

I suppose my heavy editing on the article confused you.
This was an effort by an 8 year old in Phoenix (or more appropriately, her parents' effort) to copy the success of the 13 year old in San Fran who did it.
Although, in the story, I believe the father of the 8 year old claims she has done this for the last two years.

Regardless, that's fucking smart!
Have you seen the commercials about Girl Scouts and Businesswomen?

I've actually not seen that one yet

they act as if the kid set up camp outside a XXX store..stoners = munchies..that would have been my brain child..this is marketing 101..fuck the association and their miserable cookies that they make kids peddle..kid should have done what i did..grab a UNICEF donation can..don on your brownie uniform and go door to door collecting cold, hard cash..keep the cash:lol:

Frankly Grils Scout Cookies is a sham, huge fucking sham!! I see these people posted outside grocery stores and pharmacies all over, 9/10 it's not the girl scout trying to sell, its not the girl scout grabbing my attention, its the parent. That's issue number 1, when I was in scouts (2 whole years) we went door to door, no parents just me and my friend, we actually worked for the shit. I have no issues with parents bringing a signup sheet to work and posting it on the wall, I can just ignore it, but the idea of the GSC is to teach young women something I'm sure, but these parents that live through their children just gotta go get a life, get a babysitter and hell maybe give your significant other some loving!!

While I do support the GS's in supporting Planned Parenthood, c'mon it's a choice, I just can't support their $5 cookies and their FREE child labor acts... .57cents of each box goes to the troop selling it, .57 cents, seems a better way to raise money would be to sell the GS's prepackaged cookie mix at $0.50 a pack, let them bake em and sell em for $5 a dozen, lease they'd be learning 2 skills, baking and people skills (selling the cookies) and hell they'd actually be getting some money.

Wow...this is some serious grievance you have with them.
I was in Scouting as a kid, too (Cubs and Scouts, proper) We shoveled manure (Steer, Mushroom and shredded Cedar) for $5 a bag, did bottle drives (going door to door, "Give us your empties!"), and sold cords of lumber from trees we illegally salvaged

I would have preferred selling cookies to stoners...but I must say, doing the lumber runs ....oh wait...that was for Hockey!
Anyway, shoveling manure is not fun. Although, I did find out the olfactory senses shut down after about 15 minutes. So I suppose I learned some science from that experience.
And Mushroom manure has a more pungent funk than cow shit, ironically.
