germ time

I just started to germinate seeds that are over three years old. They are IPxEndless Sky. I following a guide I downloaded a few years ago from CannabisWorld. My question is as follows: The seeds are in a damp paper towel, in a glass dish, covered by another glass dish. I have them in a dark cabinet on an enclosed patio. Last night the temp outside dropped into the sixties but I think that because they are not exposed, they are okay. How long should I wait for them to germinate before I try a packet of seeds I bought in Amsterdam three years ago?

It all depends, man. If they are still viable (which they should be), it could take as short as 1 day to as long as a week. I germinated 5 seeds all of the same variety not to long ago, and some took a few days longer than others.

Just make sure they constantly moist, change the paper towel to prevent mold, and let nature run her course.

Thanks for all of the responses. They still have not germinated. I had them on the cable box for a bit but I thought the plate was far too hot so I moved them into a dark closet. I am not sure if I should have left them on the cable box. I have another packet of seeds but I would love to discover my mistake before I try to germ the next packet.

...on the cable box? As in direct light? That could possibly be your mistake. When I germ my seeds, I fold them into a moist paper towel and store them in a dark location for a few days. During this process, I make sure that the paper towel stays moist and that no mold grows. Good luck!

During germ time, drying out kills me cause I'm too busy doing other BS. I vote for placing the seeds in a wet paper towel & placing them in a zip-lock bag for storage in a WARM place. Germ is 80% better at 90 degrees. 60 Degrees is bad. Go with the zip-lock method. Germ till they sprout...?????

Thanks to all for your help. The cable box I had them on was the one inside. I was afraid they were going to cook so I moved them to a cooler location. I am going to give these babies a few more days and then start with some other seeds. Do you think I should keep them on the top of the very warm cable box (I really think it is called a DVR) or just in a dark closet? With air conditioning, it is hard to find a spot that holds 80 degrees.

I gave up on the first seeds and have started another batch. They are outdoor seeds but my "garden" is now too close to newsy neighbors so I have to move indoors. How do outdoor seeds do indoors or should I just wait for indoor seeds to arrive?
