Germinating in rockwool / burn

I germinated some seeds in rockwool cubes without neutralizing the ph level (I didn't know this had to be done). I just poured water in the wet cubes. I'd soaked the seeds in wet tissue before hand. Now, opening the cubes, the roots are a bit brown and stalled - that's after several days.

Are my seeds ruined?
