my seeds went into paper towle sunday and in the soil tuesday and i already have 2 sprouts im using 72 cell tray w/dome and 1 26w cool cfl for germination my soil is a constant 80 degrees lastnight i thought i would give the sprouts some darkness and one of them drooped . my question is should i leave the light on all the time or just give a couple hrs of darkness for now i will have pics tomorow

eh my 2 cents. 24 hours for the first week or until they all pop from the soil and the last one opens its leaves. (i did it that way but others go 24/7 for a month or more)

thanks godkas its my first time with the tray thing last time i free balled it that way is too hard to maintain humidity and soil temp im impressed w/this tray method

yeah dint worry about it. just let em go 24/7. and let em take a firmn root and in about 2 weeks you wanna move em to your stronger light with should be an hps or mh unless your a floro guy.

for germing itself you don't need light at all, it just needed for the sprout and for this business a little cfl with 6500K spec as you got it just fine.

Just keep it low if they show their little tips, so that the won't strech on you. no fun to bury them deeper later on;)

I've done this with the same lighting you are using. I used a steady 16/8. If the plants sprout up in the middle of the light they will be fine. They will get used to the lighting. I recommend going with the 16/8 or 18/6.
