Get rid of those annoying gnats TODAY!

I'm finishing up my first grow (five females each in 6" pots) they are 8 weeks into flowering and I'll most likely be cutting them in about 9-10 days.

Aaaanyway, I have been doing battle with those stupid mold gnats for a month; I tried fly-strips which killed a bunch but the next generation kept coming. They really didn't do any harm to the plants, they were just annoying.

So by following some threads on here, I went and bought a bag of all-purpose sand today at Home Depot ($4.97 in the garden section) and put a little over an inch on top of the soil in the pots. Make sure that the sand is half-packed down, and make sure that it fills all the way out to the edge of the pot (this is where they always come out when you water your plants). I did this a little over five hours ago, and there is literally two gnats left and I killed them hahaha.

I guess those little b*stards aren't adapted to life at the beach :bigjoint:

i want to put some ladybugs in my box, where can I get some, that doesn't have a minimum order of 1000?
Let me get back to you on that, I oddly enough have a friend who is an Entomologist haha. I'll see if he knows anything. But you're right, I never really see them outside. They're very elusive I guess haha

i was told you can pick them up a OSH in the garden dept. the should be a fride with them in there. there packaged like worms are in foam or plastic cups. im going down there first thing in the morning to see if i can find them my self, i need to add some to my cab. ill let you know if this is true or false tomorow....
