I am have been reading for a long time and I am in the final stages before putting it all together. I have questions on different aspects that I want to clear up or just want a opinion. Many thanks to all of you guys and your posts .....it takes a LONG time to get through some of them.
SEEDS
I am looking for 2 types of medicinal traits.
1 - I like to have a up and speedy medicated state. Something that is good for anxiety or depression would be a bonus. I would like it to last a decent amount of time with no hard crash.
2 - I like to have a heavy stoned body buzz. If there are some trippy effects, that's fine. I don't mind if it puts me to sleep when I come down, as long as it lasts for a bit and when I smoke again, it will get medicated again so I don't just crash. Something a few hours before bed.
I have read a lot and know that I want these strains in my collection as it grows. I am trying to narrow it down to one or maybe 2 strains at this time due to the cost. As my garden grows, so will my collection.
Joey Weed - White Widow (Hemp Depot)
This is suppose to have the genetics from Brothers Grimm stock from the late 90's .....when it was potent. He is suppose to have good genetics and that is what I am looking for so I can get a good mother plant.
GreenHouse - Super Silver Haze (Rhino Seeds)
I think this is one of the 2 I will pick up. I don't want Feminized seeds and Rhino has regular seeds. I just don't hear a lot about him and wonder how old the stock is.
GreenHouse - Arjan's Haze (Rhino Seeds)
I wanted to save this for later, but I think in the next few months I will have to pick this up if I want a seed version and not Feminized. I am most likely going to try Rhino once and if all is good, get these.
Barney's Farm - G13xHaze (Attitude)
This is going to be my 2nd Choice I believe. Good Genetics and Attitude is been doing the forum good. This should have good genetics and not Feminized.
Serious Seeds - Kali Mist (Attitude)
I think this is a good strain to have in a collection by what I read. The Genetics are from here and they are not Feminized.
Sensi Seeds - Jack Herer (Attitude)
I wanted just to get this one strain, but the price is the problem at the time. I can pick up 2 nice strains for the price of this one. This will definitely be in my collection. Is it worth it to get just this strain when I could get Super Silver Haze and G13 x Haze for the same price while testing out 2 banks?
Sensi Seeds - NL #5 x Haze (Attitude)
This is another strain for the future. It's pricey too, but the genetics are worth it, but I have to wait on it for now.
I have not chosen a final strain yet. I like that 8 ball Kush from Barney's too. Super Sweet Tooth looks good. Maybe even a Blueberry or some type of Chocolate.
Are these good strains and are they as good as advertised? I understand it depends on the grower, but if the grower grows 4 types of plants and say a certain type is advertised to be twice as good, does it turn out like that compared to the other plants in their garden? I know it may not be as potent as they say because that depends on the grower.
Set-Up
Flowering Room
40" x 80" x 7' space. Two Lumatek 600 watt Digital Ballast. Two Sun XXXL Magnum Reflectors. Was going to cool the hoods with the panasonic inline exhaust.
-Going to have air blown in and fans in the room.
-Going to use some C02 2 liter bottles
-Panda Film Base with Mylar walls.
Mother Chamber
About 24" x 40" x 4'. One Lumatek 400 watt Digital Ballast w/ MH bulb.
-I was going to go with Hortilux Bulbs. Are those good or are the SuperSun Better? I was the Enhanced Spectrum for Flowering and a super blue for the mother chamber. I did think of going to T5's for the mother chamber, but I think I will get better penetration once I have a few mothers in there and it will keep them from stretching a ton?
-Panda Film Base with Mylar walls.
Cloning Chamber
About 24" x 40" x 3'. Was going to use T5 lighting in here. 6500 K bulbs.
GROWING SYSTEM
I am going to be using some form of aeroponics. Still working out a few details, but I have a few questions. Basically will be 8 rows of 3-4 plants (most likely the 4). Each row will be a week of flowering. I will be doing a SOG once I have my mothers. I have room for them to get up to say 48", but I want them to be about 36" - 40" and I will be cutting the bottom 12" - 15" off to allow for airflow, let the plant concentrate on makeing the top cola and other buds nicer, and also so my 600 watt light will have enough penetration for the plant. Each Plant will be in 2 gallon buckets. I am trying to find these 2.6 gallon buckets that are the ideal size, but I might be SOL. Was going to use 3.5" netpots to hang into the buckets. Are these Big enough?
1 - Aero Sprayers
A - I was looking at the ez-clone red replacement ones. Are these good for nutrient solution?
B- Can they be installed to run from the top down? Like from the lid facing down towards the bottom. Is a set-up like that ok? Or is it better to have the sprayers at the bottom facing up so the roots grow towards it?
2 - Timers for the Sprayers
I would need a timer or something to set the mists to go on. I have read about the Velleman, but I don't think it will do what I need. Is there something like this that can be set for long times?
Nutrients
I am going to go with Advanced and see how it goes. I was going to go with FF originally, but said wtf. Do you really go 50% strength than what is given on the Advanced Nutrient Chart?
1 - How often do you set the misting for in a aero-ponics system? 1 minute on - 4 minutes off? Do you feed at night? I would think you would so the roots do't dry out. I'm pretty sure not as often as when the lights are on.
2- How much do the plants drink per week? I'm sure at different stages they drink more, but what is a max or some sort of something I can follow. If using these pricey nutrients, I am trying to figure things out and so I have a idea if my reservoir is going to be big enough.
Grow Medium
At first I will have seeds and then I was thinking of putting them in rockwool and when they get the roots, put them in net baskets with hydrotron. Since I am using a aero system and the water will drain back to the reservoir, I don't want a medium that will break up into particles. Keep the pump and sprayers clean. Is this the right way or I am crazy?
Air Stone Pump
By my understanding I need a dual bladder one? I need one where I can use 8 air stones on it for 5-6 gallon reservoirs. A little help would be appreciated.
Getting this help would be a bonus. Anything else I need to know can be asked later when I do my journal and get up and running. I appreciate and responses or input. Happy Smoking!
