Getting it Right the First Time

Hiya,

I am such a nube that my set up is still in its box, waiting to be set up.

I picked up the BEUX Industires "grow-op-in-a-box" with all the bits of basic kit. 3'x3'x80" with a 600w LED light. Hit up the Black Friday sale over at Genetic Supply, so the beans, as they say, "are in the mail."

Because I am not "a details guy", my tent is about 1.5" taller than the space I had set aside for it. All is not lost, I have plenty of room, but a new set of questions. Originaly it was going in the basemment, which though unfinished, is underground and remains a constant temperature (more or less) year round. It also had 0 external light sources. The new location, is subject to greater temp fluxes, but I can mitigate that with heaters and AC as needed. The big thing is light.

Living in a rural area, electricty rates are bonkers. Ideally I would run the lights at night when hydro rates are lower, and leave the dark stage for daytime when the rates are lower. Any suggestions on limiting light getting inside the tent?

Also, I live in a valley with a fast running stream behind my house. It means the RH indoors runs between 70% and 85%. How big a concern is this high humidity? Should I add a dehumidifier inside (or near) the tent?

Lastly, anything I should be wearly of setting up the BEUX system?

With every best wish,
GcG

Keep the tent closer, boom no external light in the tent. Problem solved
I'd recommend venting your air outside and running a dehumidifier in the room the tent will be in. That RH isn't bad for veg but could cause issues in flower

Thanks for the advice! The tent is going near a window that I've been using for the AC vent, so running the tent's vent out that same window won't be a problem.
Glad it's as easy as closing the tent. I had been reading a bunch of articles talking about light leakage, but they were different stepups.

Don’t worry about light leakage. That’s mostly crapola. Get the largest dehumidifier you can buy. Use the recovered water for the plants. Your heat is a concern as you need it using LED. You say a 600 watt light. Exactly what light are you using? Is that 600 watts from the wall or a comparison rating versus HID?

I looked at this kit, looks like he got hoodwinked for a purple light. Probably 90w actually from the wall.

Its actually 250w from the wall, and white. Should be fine in a 3x3

Thanks for the heads up about the light and reecomendation for crop size. Guess I am gonna have to do a deeo dive into the lighting forums to learn more.

Like I say I am really just starting out. This kit feels like this a decent starting point me for. If I get hooked (and I am sure I will) I can upgrade pieces as I go. If I can produce enough to last the two of us to last between grow cycles, I'm probably a head of the game.

Right now, it's more about getting my feet wet, and making sure this is something I want to commit to.

Everyone one hates the nube on the lift with the hottest, newest snowboard and gear. Don't wanna be "that guy" lol

The carbon filter is probably the weak point of that kit, and will be inadequate if you get a stinker. If that doesnt matter to you, a light with a footprint more suited to a 3x3 would be a good idea. That said, you should be able to grow a fine plant as is
