GH Rainforest System

I have a friend interested in buying this and I'm trying to look into it so would appreciate feedback from users. They say it is a 17 gal res but where is the water level supposed to be? Put another way, how much airspace is between the bottom of the netpots and the water level? If this is "aeroponic" only until roots are in the water I don't find it very attractive. Aero is supposed to be better than roots in water so I would think one want's roots in as much airspace as possible, hence the 2 res design on most aero systems.

aero means feeding the roots while they are suspended in air, which they are all but the ends that hang in water. the solution in the res is kept aerated buy the falling water from the pumper column. having said that, I'd stear clear of it for a first system. makes a nice cloner...

ohh, I'd say if you kept the res full there is about 8 inches from bottom of net cup to top of water. but thats from memory.

Not if his only tool is a small screwdriver and he has ten thumbs. He'll be doing good just to maintain it.

the pump on that bad boy will run you at least $100, and I've seen the whole set up online for $220 - you're better off buying the GH deal i think
