I used to use a 200w CFL actual watts.

It had an E40 connector.

It put out around 16000lumens and it was 6400k.

I used mine for vegging a mother and cloning.

Useable penetration of about 8".

IMO why use 200w or 300w cfls when the same wattage hps would yield considerably more?

Never tried em lots of cfl around some nice. Seem to veg very well but you don't smoke that. I really think they all have commited to mediocrity in the name of a cause or something.

I'm finishing up my first grow soon I think. I have a 2'x3'x4' CFL cabinet. I don't plan on upgrading the lights for my second grow. Yeah, I'm flowering under 6x26W. I know I could do better with better. I have one small LST plant. It works.

But I really think the trick is to get as much of the plant as close to the actual surface of a fluorescent bulb as possible. I've tried to keep my plant flat under a bunch of spread out bulbs. I'm trying two plants and might even scrog for my second grow, and can add more bulbs across the top as needed.

When you consider the limitations of florescent, there are better ways to get bang for that many watts in a single light unit. All is not lost, though. You're lights will work. Just don't expect the biggest yields. Take the time to learn to use what you got and learn to grow.

Veg with them only
And flower in the dark? The OP already has the lights. I don't think this is the most efficient way to spend 300W, and I suggest the OP research lights and upgrade when possible, but 2700K CFL will work for bloom. It won't work the best.

Agreed.

However a friend of mine used to use a 125w Red and a 250w red.

He would put 6 single stem lollypopped clones under the 125 for 3 weeks then move then up to the 250w for 5weeks and move them back to the 125w to finish.

He constantly had 12plants this way and chopped roughly every 5 weeks with around 2-3oz dry.

It is definitely doable with large cfls as I've seen it myself. But I used to tell him the same. Why run 375w of cfl when a 400w would give him so much more.

His issue was dealing with heat. By using the cfl lights he only had to use of fans to cool everything.
