Grow Help: Indoor/Outdoor; Flowering; Odor Problems; Harvesting; Please Help

Okay, so here's the deal. I'm currently a senior in high school. After graduation most of the kids go down to the beach for a week (senior week:hump:.) I wanted to bring A BUTT LOAD of herb down with me. But I don't want to spend too much money to do so. Therefore, I was thinking i could begin growing inside during the winter months and after the last frost of the year move the plants outdoors. But here's the kicker. I still with my parents and they don't want the house to stink of marijuana. So, when would I have to move the plants? Before flowering? Do plants smell pre-flower stage? When should i start growing? What should I use/need to grow? Grow box? Lights? I need to harvest by the beginning of June. Much appreciated. :bigjoint:

You can flower a plant when it's a 1 - 1.5 ft tall, plants can hit this height somewhere between 4 & 8 wks, depends on your strain and conditions. Where you live and when the temperature will stay in at least the upper 50s perferably 60s at night is something else you need to know to find you answer. In a general sense a grow could start indoors in mid to late February and be put outdoors to flower in mid April. Putting them outdoors will trigger the flowering and they won't stink until they're in the flower stage, the slight odor during veg can be controlled with air freshers. Do some research to figure out your grow and those details will determine you exact time-frames.

thanks man. and after germination could i just use a regular twisty 'go green' lightbulb to grow them? or do i need a certain kind? and i was thinking of putting top soil in double gulps and growing them out of there. good idea?

If you mean CFL bulbs then yes. Get the highest wattage you can @ 6500K aka Daylight; I think this is referred to as light color or light temperature. Get Potting Soil, get good quality, no miracle grow. Start in party cups or something much smaller than the double gulp to help form a nice sturdy root ball. When the edges of the leaves overlap the diameter of the small cup it's time to transplant. Just make sure your have a container with drainage that will keep out all light and not topple over easily. Container size after transplant will depend on strain. I grew a Ryder strain in 1.5 qt pots the whole grow with no problem, I checked the root ball after chop and confirmed they weren't even close to root bound. I've also had to get 25 qt pots this grow for my AKs that are over 6 ft tall.
