Newbie here.....I am staging for a grow cycle and thought I would make a 6 foot diameter 'wheel' On the wheel will be 6 12 inch pots.
I want to motorize the 'wheel' so that it turns at 1 rpm. Each pot will also have a lazy susan on the bottom of it. The lazy susan will have a ring gear that will encounter a 'stationary tab' on the base, to move the pot itself. The gear has 36 teeth and will take 36 minutes to rotate a full 360 degrees.
Lights will be placed above and on the side (400 watt on top and 250 watt on the side, MH and HPS) As the 'wheel' rotates, each pot will get 10 seconds of very direct light and 50 seconds of indirect.
Am I out of mind or will this work? I can make the mechanism work fine but will the plants get enough light at this cycle rate (10 seconds at the light, 50 seconds away)
I would compare this to the light mover, I just thought it would be better to get some very focused light on the plant so I want top and side lights.
I will also add a simple watering device so the rotating wheel will get a steady drip whenever I need to feed water.
I will have reflective material on the inside of the wheel to allow good light on the inside also
Any and all suggestions are welcome.
With some good feedback from the crowd, I am sure this will come together and then I can post up some pics of the result
Thanks for any assistance
