I'm new at this so any advice is wecome.

I just finished a box 4x3x4. I have a 120v computer fan in the side, and 2 light sockets in the top which I'm going to put two mercury vapor lights in there.

I'm planning on hardwiring the box to the circuit in the attic. I want it to be on the breaker, because fire would be really bad.

I can't figure out how i would put in a timer for the lights, because every timer I have seen plugs into a recepticle. Any ideas?

You will have issues. You need to research and read some threads. As for your electrical issue, wire in a power strip to the inner wall of the box. Then plug all you lights and fans to it. Make sure you are on a GFI circuit. You need to research ventilation big time. Place an exhaust fan at the top(heat rises) and intake vents or intake fan at the bottom. Test for temps before planting. Finally you need to research lighting. Don't use mercury vapor lights - they won't grow for shit. Hope you do not plan on putting a mercury vapor bulb into a regular light socket. It needs a ballast. You would probably do best with compact flourescents that don't make much heat and don't require a ballast. Move up to high pressure sodium or metal halide when you are sure you can vent the heat.
