so lets say i had a nice space for growing, like a 6 foot long,6 foot wide, and lets say 8 1/2 foot high! Should i use a 600-1000w hid, Mh, or hps? which would be least costly , and which would be the best for the buds??

but would that be more energy efficiant than doing a t-5 and a hps??which whould produce more buds and which will be more efficiant on my energy bill?anything would help!
OHHH. ALSO. i was wondering would a flood and drain technique be better than soil?would it make any dif??What about aeroponics or hydro, which whould be better and produce more!?

sounds like your first grow. my advice would be to keep it simple the first time and add the extras next time. stick with soil, have a single room and just grow a couple of plants. work your bugs out with something small and simple so you won;t get frustrated.

as for your lights, it depends on how much of that area is actually going to have plants. if its the whole area then you'd need the 1000. that said, i would recommend you start with either 1 400 or 600 using part of your space. that will let you use that light if you decide to go to a perpetual grow where you have plants vegging and flowering at the same time.

if you decide to go as i recommend, then you want to get a hps/mh conversion set up so you;ll have the best light for veg and for flower.

as for your light question, hps or mh is always better for your plants than tubes or cfls; but flouro is cheaper so people on a budget buy them.

It is my 1st grow and I take all your info. seriously and will apply ! I need a (mh) for better buds cuz of the uvb or uv light it gives off as well as a hps for great flowering. Can i throw a few cfl's inbetween the plants to add more lumens, or should i stick to side lighting, fig. that a few lil lights between each row of plants will be benificial.I did my research and got my materials as well as the hard to find SPACE to do it in. haha so im still thinking i have enough smarts and knowlage to go with an ebb n flow system or aeroponics system i had built recently, Shoot was even thinking doing each plant in its own 3 gal bucket it will be easy to arrange the plants as well as moving them from room to room. THANX "Desertrat" you have been most helpful
