Hey there...Anybody awake yet? Well here's a quickie someone may be able to help me with.

Regarding grow boxes/cabinets....Im in an apartment would like to have a grow cabinet or box. I was intendint to use my closet but it seemed a bit cramped for all the lighting, fan etc.

Ive seen a few posts an pieces about making your own grow cabinet or box. I unfortunately dont have the needed tools and possibly the mechanical skills to construct one myself. I was wondering if there is a place I could purchase a growbox? Or....Could someone point me in the direction of a "how to" guide that isnt too involved. Like I said....Im not too confident in my construction skills.

All help will be greatly appreciated....

Shit.. go to a junk yard and you could very well possibly find a perfect grow box there, I hear of people using old refrigerators from junk yards so thats an idea. As for your small closet, ive seen some small ass setups.. It shouldnt be bad at all.. Mind getting pics and people here could help you with setup ideas?

Cool...Thats exactly what I'll do. I'll take some pics of the closet I have and post them with length, witdth and height. I just thought it would be a bit narrow. I also thought I'd need it to have room for the plants to get taller.

By the way...how tall on average are plants at harvest time? Im sure the strain and the desire of the grower has alot to do with it. But Ive seen some growboxes that are tiny. I assumed they were used just to get the plants going and then they'd be moved into something that has more height for them to grow. Then again...I could be wrong. Im a newbie so gimme a break. lol

Fridge is a great idae...or deep freeze.

You might also look into finding an "amoire" or entertainment cabinet and use that. I'm noticing A LOT of these showing up in the THRIFT stores because folks are buying monster sized flat screens that will no longer fit in 'em and are dumping nice peices of furniture for free/cheap. Many are already cordoned off inside or have adjustable shelves that could be retro-d to grow in.

good luck

Depends how much you wanna spend. A bc bloom box is about 4 grand but is plug and grow has everything lights hydro set up fans odor control the works.Or you can order a grow hut depending on size for $299-600

So when I see people growing in what looks like "RubberMaide" tubs....Is that just a temporary growing place? Can you have shorter plants that still yield a good sized crop? And how much space is needed to complete the growing/flowering? Does each plant need ______ amount of room?

Im sure seeing my closet can help gauge if its spacious enough. But those RubberMaide hookups look nice...just worried theat it wont be a permanant place for the plants.

BTW I did check out VideoMan's grown cabinet. That looks Ideal. I just cant find those damned cabinets ANYWHERE...Walmart...HomeDepot...Lowes...None seem to carry them. Well at least they dont advertise them on their websites.

Old fridges and Armoires sound nice...but my space is limited. Im not in a house Im in an apt. Any ideas where I can find some of those pre-fab cabinets like in VideoMan's post?

Thats why Im considering my closet (which I really would rather not use) and making one from the Rubbermaid boxes.

Ok...I took some pix and just tried to upload them a couple times and got error msgs each time. I probably need to size them down 1st.

As far as the closet...I do have the dimensions. Its suprisingly 11ft long...but i have to regret that its only 1ft 10in wide. Its also 7.5ft from floor to ceiling.

What worries me is the width. Im thinking that its not enough room once (hopefully) they grow. So....is that suitable for a grow from seed to smoke?

And if anyone has a clue why my pictures wouldnt post...lemme know. Again, thanks in advance.

a cheap and effective way to make a grow box if your still lookin into it is to use a cardboard box, just use some pc fans for venting, you can keep one plant per box ( not sure how many you want), you could go with a large refridgerator box if you want, or.. what ive seen done before, is to start with a small box, say 3 feet tall, mount some cfls in the top, let the plant grow, then when it reaches the top of the box, take out the lights cut a hole in the top of hte box, and just add a new box right on top of the other, letting you make yoour box as high as you need it

Ok I sized my pictures down. So...what does it look like?

Oh...and I'll be removing the shelf as well. So it'll be clear from floor to ceiling.

You can definitely do something in that closet, it's a bit narrow, but if you are willing to give up the whole space, then you could certainly start a grow in there.

As far as growing out of a cardboard box, that's what I have now in my closet. My closet is a walk-in with a lot more room than that, so I have ample room for the box and clothes, etc, but this is just for an idea.

I got a big box, wrapped it with mylar, and just hung the lights from the shelf above.

lowes has what you need! They have a 6ft white 2dr cabinet for around 58 bucks, and an even bigger one for $128! you wont find it online, you have to go into the store and look in the isle with the storage items! Much more convenient than transforming your closet!
