Growing in a Rental, I hate landlords

I am currently a renter and I grow in the basement. This weekend I planned on harvesting. My landlord who lives out of town called and said they need to stop by and check on a few things. It smells like the place is infested with skunks. I was just wondering if anyone else has had any interesting stories about landlords just stoping in. I had to break my room down one time but this time I'm going to continue my plan to start trimming.

yea, my friends land lord caught him in FL. the landlord Told him to hurry up and get his shit out and to give him 2,000 for all the damage. When he got there "because he wasnt there when the landlord opened the barn and saw the operation" the DEA was waiting for him. got 2 years

id try to hide the harvest for awhile and get rid of the smell..

I am in a rental and am growing in a closet in the office. The landlord decided a couple weeks ago that he wanted to replace the windows in that room and the room next to it to double pane windows because the windows that were in it were really old. Luckily I had just sprouted them, so there wasn't any smell and I could easily hide it all in the closet with out him knowing. Sadly 2 seedlings died due to getting to cold because of it, but I'll take the sacrifice and make some clones lol.

I think as long as they have access to utilities they cant enter any unlocked doors. So make yo shit silent as possible and run your light on cycles at night when your home and when LL is less lickly to come calling. Also Carbon filters are a must, happy growing and be careful out there.

You should tell him "do it next week, not his weekend; I have plans". You're paying the rent and he does not have the right to come on your property without your consent. He can wait.

that might vary from state to state. in my state for example, if a landlord knocks and you don't answer, he/she has every right to enter the apartment without your consent. also in my state, a landlord is allowed to enter any apartment if they believe a crime is taking place, because legally the landlord is responsible for what transpires on the landlord's property.

Remember renting does not mean owning. if you rent, you are essentially borrowing a place to live from the landlord.

They have to give you a notice in advance before they can enter. At least a full day. My landlord did stop over today and I didn't answer. I could see him through the window on his phone calling me. LoL

kidding right. buy a cheep house for under 40k and fix it up slowly. they off it to get your dream house.

Hopefully soon I can buy a home. It would be nice to have a more permanent setup and build it the way I want to. I'm in Colorado now but when I lived in Michigan you could buy a nice foreclosed home for under 20 grand.

I have a legal grow but do not want my landlords to find out for fear they would want a share of the harvest. Crazy hippies. Luckily the area I live in always smell like MJ because of so many people growing ,especially during harvest season, so I just vent to the outdoors.
Renting does suck though.

I had my landlord pop into my greenhouse on a surprise visit. I guess the neighbor's kid was trespassing and told his father what he found. Dad called the landlord who showed up unannounced...

I opened the door half dressed to my landlord yelling at me to get rid of everything in my greenhouse. I told her I was a legal patient and explained to her that in our state and county I did not legally need to inform her of my grow. I then went on to explain to her that she was trespassing - she tried to tell me she counted as the gardener, at which point I explained to her that she was full of shit and that I know my rights. Next I explained to her that I was legally obligated to report all incursions into my grow tent to the police and that I would need the name of the boy who trespassed (the son of another tenant). She got nice real quick and took off.

Two weeks later she called and asked if she could come by to talk - I said yes. She came with a rental addendum stating that I was allowed to grow indoors but that she didn't want me to grow outdoors. I promptly refused to sign (but kept the copy with her signature) and never heard from her about it after that. I did move the majority of my plants indoors - Don't let landlords walk on you, but at the same time be respectful.

She was tricky - would pretend to be my best friend if she thought it would get her something and then a complete bitch when she thought she had something on me. I'm just glad I photo documented the shit out of the property before and after moved in/out. Probably helped that I was paying 6 months upfront at a time as well I've noticed most all landlords respect cash upfront.

i was getting ready to retire and sold my house. i rented an apt. in a neighborhood that i didn't know but it was close to work.
i started a nice little 250 W closet grow. a couple of days after i flipped them into flower, i got the first of 5 messages saying they were coming through. i wrapped the plants in a bunch of large garbage bags and put them into my trunk. mother fuckers didn't show up that day! that night i bring the plants back into the apt but i have no idea if these rat fucks are going to come the next day or reschedule. i tossed all 10 plants and tore down the grow.

FIVE TIMES in 11 months, the rat bastards left me a note saying that they were going to stop by for a complex wide pest control or to check on the condition of the apt. they actually stopped by 3 of those 5 times.

i had a casual work friend who owned a few places. i told him about my problem, he said he'd never bother me. i've been here ever since!

I had my landlors and a carpenter standing right next to my tent zipped up with my girlfriend while I was at school. I did not have a card at the time. Now I do. They had no idea. Thank you Oversized carbon filter.
