Growing in the Desert

Hi All! I'm new here and I also happen to be trying out a plant for the first time. I live in the high desert and am growing in an 11" pot on my deck. I just wanted to start a thread about growing in a desert environment because I haven't been able to find much to read about it.

You might wanna invest in some sort of screen to put over your plant if you can. My plants started showing signs of heat stress when temps topped 100+ for consecutive days. I used a burlap mesh over mine. I can send you pics if you'd like. Good Luck on your grow!

Home Depot, and some garden centers sell shade cloth by the foot... it costs about as much as burlap. A couple bucks per yard. Burlap likely looks more suspicious and nefarious, if your keeping it on the D.L. .... Shade cloth is also better at being hammered with UV rays, and wet weather.
