Growing outdoor in SoCal

I was just wondering if anyone could give me advice on what to look out for when growing in SoCal. I plan on doing an outdoor grow, three pots in a wooded area, but I'm paranoid that deer / slugs will eat my babies while I'm away. Is that common? If so, how do I avoid it??? :-|

hang salt blocks up in the trees in about a 10 yard radius from where ur grow is, should divert the deer.

as for slugs, i dont know.

home depo or lowes carrys stuff to kill slugs just apply like two feet from plant and u will see empty shells all over if any around, and as for deer use fishing line around Ur crop, a simple stepup of sticks and string will do the job to keep deer out... Look up guerrilla growing for more tips..
