depends on your local soil. yeah its possible. what i like o do when i grow outside is plant naturally, and only feed when the plant looks like it needs it. but illinois soil is real fertile

if your growing in pots and make a good soil mix yeah you could be able to do a great grow. useing like worm caseings and shit like that.
