I was wathcing bush give his speech about this yesterday, and at one point he said something to effect that this was in full respect of americans civil liberties, and you could sorta see him crack a smile as he said it lol

you guys as long as they dont use the tapping for anythign but terrorists im 100% in favor wouldnt u be?

obama atleast voted against the part that would give telcom immunity didnt he?
Nope. It doesn't work that way. wow....Let's see....the "Candidate for Change" has now voted for continued funding of the war and has now voted to continue FISA in it's current form. Guess we need to redefine "change", yes?

As one who works for a telco and have met w/ the Feds regarding FISA and CALEA, I am not in favor of ANY form of warrantless wiretapping as it fundamentally violates the US Constitution. The Federal gov't now has the ability to insidiously monitor voice/data traffic out of telcos across the nation without even having to ask permission to perform said wiretap(s).

This is a disgrace to Obama and a large hole has just been ripped in our 4th amendment. Although this makes me distrust the candidate for change a little more, he's still 10 times better than the altermative. I'm starting to think the PTB have gotten to him. To let the telecoms and the bush regime off the hook, is well, off the hook! I wonder what drives these insane congressmen when they blatantly pull something like this, disgraceful to say the least, criminal to put it more succinctly. How do you straighten out our country when the leaders are all, but a few, crooks and liars. I see less and less difference between the dems and repukes with every passing day.

You either vote for or against.

yes thanks .... I was under the impression that there was a vote to ammend the bill to leave out the part about giving immunity to telecom, and that is what I was reffering too...I am aware that you can only vote yes or no

Sen. Barack Obama, D-Ill., issued a statement in support of the House’s update of the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act, but said he would try to strip a provision granting immunity to telecommunication companies when the bill comes to a vote in the Senate next week.

He didn't succeed and voted for it anyway, Left me "flummoxed" you might say, I believe also in this bill that the MSM is not talking about at all, is a provision that would let Bush and his cronies off for every crime they've ever committed, past, present, or future. Weve gone way past "1984", Orwell was right.

Its funny how many people could fall under a generic "terrorist" umbrella. Remember when we got attacked by saudi arabians on a plane, and then toppled Iraq for it?
How long will it take for "terrorist" to mean, foreigner, or dissident?

terrorist will always mean terrorist,

you fight against it if they abuse it not before

how do you expect them to catch the terrorists?

everyone knows why obama voted for it, because it was the right thing to do and he knows the next time we get hit its gonna be bad and everyone is gonna be hollerin and screaming "WHY!!!! WHY!!! didnt our goevernment stop them!!!"

and you know what he would have to say as pres if he didnt vote for it?

"aaaaaaa cuz we couldnt spy on them, my bad"

its all dandy to be against it, but where will you guys be when everyone wants to know how we let this attack happen? and when they are pullin bodies out by the truckload

you wont be in the hot seat will you? ill be the only one to come on here and blame u

That's kinda like saying, "You're guilty before proven innocent", kinda like how the court system works today, First they throw you in jail, then you try and prove your innocence. Justice is surely blind.

it's sad because Obama said he was going to try to fillabuster this as long as he could. Instead, he just voted for it. lame.

this country is not changing any time soon, police state is the norm and always will be, no matter what color or sex the president is

It's interesting to read some of the blogs today. Seems as if many Obama supporters feel betrayed by his decision to vote in favor of this bill. I've been saying all along that Obama is not what he appears to be so his "yes" vote comes as no surprise to me. He promises a larger military, has just this last week said that we need to engage Iran in "aggressive diplomacy" (what the hell does that mean?), has voted to fund the war, and now this. I for one see through his ruse.
