hard lessons learned

Hi all, I have just completed my 7th grow, and I have to say I have done well. I have a great crop of purple og, white widow and bubba Kush. I thought it might be good to share some learnings from over the years...

0) don't tell anyone.... Anyone... Don't show anyone... Just don't do it.
I haven't had visitors for 5 months. So glad to pack it all up for a bit.

1) Mix nutes on mass and the same volume each time. Note the volumes of everything you put in. Makes it quicker easier to repeated accurately and higher volumes are more forgiving . I have a 47l res, and it's a lot easier that mixing per watering.

2) light light light.... So I just finished under 600w hps for the 1st time. Previously using 400. The buds are dramatically better and finished a.lot quicker. I have to question the 400w is cheaper to run argument now just basked on flower time. 1k for me next times think.

3) going away is hard - I have a new girl who.is obsessed with holidays and weekend breaks. It is really hard to get this right unless your environment is completely automated. This is expensive and hard to achieve. I went away for a week, and left the window open.... During that week it got really cold.... This made all my strains change color early. My bubba Kush went completely blue... This effected yield, but it does look great none the less. Based on this item would plan to stay at home for future flower periods.

4) calibration... Ph meter calibration is essential. It was responsible for the destruction of my last efforts. Slowly going out of sync my ph became too acidic for assimilation of nutes. If in doubt have a fallback liquid check to validate especially if you have an issue.

5) make sure you take advice online carefully (ironic as I write this). People on here are all over the world. For example... Curing tips I find a little incorrect because the RH of my location it about 60%. I think some people advising are in areas with lower humidity.

6) growing more than 1 strain is harder - Different heights of plants, nute preference Makes the complication almost not worth the effort for the variety in a smaller space. 2 out of my 3 look awesome but defo just doing 1 next time.

7) get to know your strain. - Might be obvious but if you find out that you have a 9 week strain instead of the 7 it says on the pack, you know when to flush for next time. Defo good to write stuff down.

8) just coz it looks good doesn't make it good. I have dried some killer looking plants and they dried outbound loose a lot of their density Whilst the other ones remained dense. It ain't over til your smoking it.

9) not all strains smell like the boom ting bud you buy. Doesn't make em not awesome.

10) curing is as much effort as the grow, so pay attention, and don't go away for that either. Those jars need burping.

11) don't panic and flush - if you have an issue with your plant that looks like deficiencies or burn.... Don't panic, flush with pure water and ffs check your ph more than once.

Hope these help someone out there.

So Damn simple once you get a basic grasp of basic botany.
Dude, tying shoes was difficult for everybody at some point...

Great post op. It seems very real and genuine to me. Not just a "ok, since I'm the man, here's what to do" thread. Thank you.

Ps: I think growing cannabis is difficult, even if you're a pro. months of hard work is always in the balance.

Thanks mate. Certainly not the man! Made lots of mistakes in the pursuit of great weed. Definitely making progress though which is great.

Adding number

12) don't believe the label....
On 2 aspects.... Seed company grow times. Never seemed be accurate except for white
widow from greenhouse seeds which does finish in 8 weeks.
And
Nute strengths. Ata nutes come out crazy strong if you follow the label. Get a tds meter.
Also... Flush liquid.... Just not sure it did anything at all but would need to do an a/b test to prove that

Thanks... I have made some genuine mistakes along the way. Definitely not the man!
