Harvest Time!

Due to cold weather and rot caused by rain in my area, I had to harvest a week or so earlier than I would have liked. The plants all had mostly cloudy trichs, with some clear ones, but there were no amber ones. But I chopped em all down, got em inside, trimmed em up and put em in jars to cure. Hopefully I wont screw up the curing process and ruin my smoke(knock on wood). I still have a few projects left. I need to take all that trim and make sum hash. I also have my wife's indoor white rhino grow going on. Be done in about 2 or 3 weeks. I have to say I didn't do too bad for my first outdoor grow. I harvested 7 plants with nice fat buds, haven't weighed it out yet, but I got full mason jars everywhere now. It was definitely a learning experience. I had males show up that I had to destroy, I fought rainbow striped leaf hoppers, caterpillars and rot. But it was well worth it and I learned a whole lot that I can now use to do even better on my next outdoor grow! All this was done out of love for my family. That's what it's all about. Till next time. Peace:peace:.IMG_20131009_133641[1].jpgIMG_20131009_133641[1].jpgIMG_20131009_153154[1].jpgIMG_20131009_153204[1].jpgIMG_20131010_114620[1].jpgIMG_20131010_115318[1].jpgIMG_20131010_114349[1].jpgIMG_20131010_114342[1].jpgIMG_20131010_114615[1].jpg

I didn't see you mention drying the buds. Surely you didn't chop 'em, trim 'em and fill up mason jars with fresh, non-dried bud. Maybe you just forgot to mention the drying part. Hope so, or your going to have mason jars full of moldy buds very quickly.

^^^Ditto what greenlikemoney says! When I look at your jar, those buds look fresh. If you didn't do a dry first (I like a slow dry, 7-10 days), then you're going to have moldy bud very soon.

If this is the case, you're going to want to remedy the situation immediately! Dump the bud out onto newspaper if you have nothing else, though screens in frames are better, as are tiered laundry drying baskets with screens. The screens are to allow air circulation.

You want to replicate a slow-dry as much as possible, so keep the bud in a room with 60% RH if you can. This will allow slow drying. If you're using newspaper, turn the bud over once a day to allow for even drying. After 5 days, then jar with a hygrometer in the jar. Follow the instructions in the Harvesting and curing thread for "A Perfect Cure."

Good luck!

Little more leaf on the bud then I would prefer but everyone has their way.

Yeah I hope you let those slow dry for at least 5 days, depending on environment, before jarring it.

Yeah its all under fans guys. They are drying nicely in the dark with air flowing thru. I'll trim em up more when they dry a lil bit more.

Make sure the fans aren't pointed at the buds, you don't want them to dry to quickly. Only reason for a fan in a drying room is for a little air circulation, and again, not pointing at the buds whatsoever.

Nice and worthy of some rep :hump: But I gotta tell ya, you take really shitty pics  I mean come on, outta 9 pics you couldn't get even one of them in focus?... :p Seriously, good work and you are right, it was a tough season, but a great learning experience :bigjoint: Please heed the advice about fans, I too have over-dried buds using fans :spew:

Yeah, I thought the same thing about the pics. One might have been sharp maybe.
Anyway...I continue to learn all of the time too. I dont profess to be any kind of expert. When drying I use an oscillating fan that passes by the hanging upside down bush as it goes back and forth. Are yinz sayin thats not a good idea?

Ventilation is good, strong air blowing right on buds is not. This can cause parts of the buds to over dry, while leaving the parts that don't get as much airflow relatively damp. So you'd have a greater chance of uneven drying. With over drying on one end and possible mold issues on the other end.
