Harvesting

whats up lads
my green o matic grow is almost finished and i was wondering,
when i begin to harvest choping all the big leaves away should i also chop the tiny leaves attaches to the buds that are covered in trichomes?

Ahh, trimming, we call that trimming. Chopping sounds so harsh. haha! That's kinda up to you, beautiful part of being the grower. Some people pull of the fan leaves, like the biggest ones, before taking down there plants, even. My last grow a buddy, and his friend took a bunch of fan leaves off my Sour D's, and it didn't hurt them at all. That's called "de-leafing" It actually made trimming, and drying go a little faster. But, be careful de-leafing too much, it can be bad for your ladies, but if it's a few days from the end, they seem to not mind.
Some take the whole plant down, and dry it without removing anything until it's fully dried, it just depends on your preference. The main idea is to leave some material, so that the plant dries evenly, and not too quickly, or the smoke can become harsh.

generally if you can see the stem for the leaf even if you have to dig a bit for it these are the leaves you chop at the base of the stem, I usually just kind of square off the other ones by taking off the tips, I try to make it so that any of these small leaves will be pretty flush with the bud. Anyway its up to you how you trim but this is what I go for. My goal is to leave as much crystal leaf as possible so long as it is fairly flush with the bud and it looks okay while removing all leaves that have stems visible ('fan' and 'shade leafs'). It is easy to take too much off when you first start trimming - you will learn with time - test the limit on how much you can leave on and still have it look good.

Yea I trim the big leaves leave the frosted ones cept trim the tips off them. I don't get as snug as most people with trimming but I think they waste a lot of good leaves by trimming too tight.

Yeah, deprave is right, you wanna make it look good. That's what I ask people who are trimming, for us. I say, "What would you like your bag to look like?", "Ok, make you trimmed buds look like you'd want them." We have a lot of girls that dig pretty deeply into the bud, but it never goes to waste. r1tony, don't forget you can always turn you trimmings into ganja butter, or hash it up! :)
