Has anyone tried using LED lights to grow?

Hello all, Has anyone tried, or know anything about, using LED lights to grow? With the huge lumen to wattage ratio, I was wondering if anyone had tried or knows a reason it doesn't work?

I am looking into it, but i feel the led light panels are a little pricy for what they are built with, leds are cheap and i think the light panel would be easy to copy. Now had saying that, thats what i am doing with my plants, well just testt the waters and see how everything works out.

hey guys, the UFO was the mother that started it all it was made in china not that greatly made for cannabis but great technology, theres an american made LED for about 650 called the light blaze thats the best one to buy right now. LED's are the way to go right now for personal/stealthy grow. within a year i bet there gonna have a longer led to be able to grow more plants

LED lights are not worth the money, go buy HPS and get stellar results.

Buy LED and get poor results.

I am using the LumiGrow light. Seriously nice light. my babies are really really happy at 4 weeks into flower... let you know how it turns out. here is a photo i posted a few weeks ago in another thread

LED does work, however you have to understand on how many watts the light actually is, make your own circuit. Basic LED's wont work. You need LED's that put out the specific light spectrum in nm or nanometers and you would need quite a few. I made my own array.

I got two ufos and 4 lgm5 pro fullspectrum led bars. Just added the ufos for flowering but veg two girls beautifully with the 4 LGM5s. To be honest I didn't expect much from 9 watt bars but I think they got the spectrums correct cause they flurished in DWC. I added the UFOs cause I didn't think icould flower with them. But then again I didntvtry flowering with them. So I now have them for side light. I also want to add that I didn't get any stretching with the bars I just moved them about 6 inches from the top of the canopy. I have to say I'm impressed with the growth I got with 4, 9watt bars.two girls are short and bushy. But there pretty overpriced for 9 watts a bar.

:)

Rebel Red. Only the best.

My current design I'll be mocking up next weekend for a test 4 plant sog op in a 5 gallon bubble bucket... Will burn 471 watts... On that one square foot... The light pictured above condensed.

"Pics or it didn't happen!"
-I know.
Eventually it will.

More watts in more places! is my motto...
And...
I have 0 doubts about fat colas.

-----------

Actually, someone here actually posted asking whether or not a red led stage light would work... and I fathom why not.

And 99% of them have likely never used them.

Current LED technology far surpasses(2x) any light on the market(watt for watt), they just don't sell them... yet. The technology is there, it's just being perfected for commercialization.

Current high-end commercial LED offerings rival the best fluorescents.
