Hashmaking Equipment

Recently I was working with an associate of mine, making hash from trim leaf. He had the BubbleNow machine and brand name BubbleBags. I enjoyed the process (and the product) so I decided to get my own. I am pretty much broke right now, so I spent a lot of time researching off-brand bags and retailers. I found some locally, but they were the same price as the name-brand, so I didn't bother with those. I scoured the internet for reviews of these off-brand bags and found that the Blackwater Hydroponics bags and other Chinese versions fall apart quickly and don't work worth a crap. I finally settled on some from Bubblebagdude on Ebay. He is widely regarded as the ONLY ebay seller to buy these bags from. They are very reasonably priced and work decently. Problem is, I've used the real thing and I know the process. The bags with the tighter mesh should be a physical process to run the water through. These bags lift very easily from the water, even the 20 micron bag. This leads me to the conclusion that the sides of the bag (or the seams) are not water-tight and thus lots of hash slips through the side and into the waste-water. This can be helped by allowing the water to set before you lift out the bags, lifting the bags extremely slowly and afterward, run the whole bucket of water back through the 20 micron bag without allowing the water to build up inside the bag. All in all, I'd say just buy the right bags at the beginning and save yourself the headache of having to buy 2 sets. Please note, this is not an attack on bubblebagdude, Blackwater Hydroponics or no-name hashbags of any kind. In fact, bubblebagdude was a very cool guy, and I'm still going to buy the BubbleNow machine from him, because he answered all of my questions and I had to hot-glue the name-brand machine to stop leaks anyway. I hope this post saves somebody some frustration.
