Having Kids?Your Thoughts

So I live in CA. My city has the highest teen pregnancy rate in Northern CA from what I remember. And I can think of at least 15 girls I know who have had a kid or been pregnant and miscarried/aborted. That doesnt include all the girls who I heard were pregnant and didnt know them, or else the number would be up in the late 20's. I know I want kids, a decent amount too... but I want to wait. I am just wondering if you had kids young, or if you have them now.. what is it like? Ive never heard one of those girls complain about their babies, saying they were a blessing and yadda yadda. Idk what to think? I see adults who fail as parents, yet they seem to be doing fine. Whats up with that picture?

Have kinds when you and the person you love can support them financially, and still be able to give them the devoted time and unconditional love of a parent...Age shouldn't really dictate when you have children, you should have 'em when your ready, right?

Yeh what meta said, I can't stand it when I see some of my younger pals in their 20's purposely poppin babies out, without even having a job or anything.

And yes age doesnt matter as long as your an adult and have everything financially secure.

Well, and you should be emotionally and mentally stable at the time as well...and if you can't maintain those minumum requirements, maybe a person should re-evaluate their decision to have a child...Puppies are way cheaper...

I went with the puppy option, have had the same lab for 5 years now.. love the dog

if u wait till your ready u will never have kids ...................kids are the best thing there is.......... i like growing them better than weed but they kinda go hand in hand........somebody to trim.........lol............

When one compares modern civil relationships, say the last 2 or 300 years and much more so in the last 50 years to all the time mankind evolved and the reproductive relationships and practices, I think we are geneticaly programmed to have children quite young, I think to balance that with the modern world, one needs to put off until your early 20's, I realy regret sometimes that I don't have any children.

True enough regarding the mental stability but the money issue is way off.
I've raised 3 kids.....They are not expensive at all.....it is the parents who are expensive. You think little baby Johnny cares whether he is riding in a $400 stroller or dressed head to toe by the gap or some other cheasy name brand? Parents fall into the baby trap and they gotta have all the latest and greatest gear for babies and it just makes me laugh. You don't need all that shit to take care of a baby.......Don't feed your babies that shit they call babyfood in a jar.....It is garbage and will make your kid a picky eater.....What we did was cooked meals LOL....Momma got the blender out and took a little bit of meat some taters and some veggies and made babymush then we froze it and thats what our kids ate as babyfood. Oh and just say no to disposable diapers they are horrible for the environment.

I`m not too keen about having kids myself. There are far too many people in this world and I don`t get why were creating more and more lol

Plus they cast a "your a parent get your act together" vibe on you. Jeez, if you have a dog you can`t really go travelling without having someone to look after it... What the hell do you do with a kid if you want to go away for months and go to raves and festivals? Sounds like losing your freedom to me.

Also the fact that they may turn into a right little bastard lol

I`ll propably end up having kids if I get married but I can`t see what all the enthusiasm and looking forward to is about. lolz

i have 3 grown kids, my wife was 17 and i was 26 when the first was born. 28 years later i love them just as much as the day they were born. if i had waited until i was ready to have kids i would of never had any.

Babies are awesome in every way. I didn't think I was "ready" either but it changed my outlook on life. I now have something to look forward to every day and in the long-term. You do lose some of the liberties you had before as you mentioned Tenner, but I don't think there is a rave or festival on the planet I'd rather see than hang with my daughter.

Yes kids, i'm almost 30 and babies are on my brain daily, being surrounded by prego married friends kinda sticks it in ur face lol
But i made a choice very early in my life to not have a child before i felt ready, i've seen first hand 2 many friends/family hand their children over to someone else because they feel their needs are more important!! (grrrrrr) I feel as a female my purpose in life is to have children and make sure i dedicate my life 100% to them make sure they grow up feeling loved and given helpful advice to ensure they make wise choices in their own journeys.

I'll be twenty in a couple months and no time soon for me thanks. A friend had a kid at nineteen and she didn't graduate high school have a ged or job and kept fucking her life up. Painful thing to watch and she had no idea what she was in for

your friend has other problems if she was still in hs at 19

No lol she dropped out and is to lazy and dramatic to go get her GED, are you high son?

Well thats propably what I`m talking about. But I do have to see the raves properly before having children My parents quit 10 years of hard drugs, changed their country and gave birth to me. I was their anchor to the sober world A distraction... But thats what children are anyway. They were great parents don`t get me wrong. The way to put it is the world is doing a good enough job of distracting me at the moment and I don`t need any children yet I`m 21 years old, what do I know

But I would take on the father duty head on and full on if I were to get my girlfriend pregnant I wouldn`t have a child on purpose though I can imagine it being quite fun in its ways until they turn 16-18 and start thinking your uncool and their friends are cool lolz Thats nothing permanent though

thats an interesting story... but whats a 26 year old man doing with a 17 year old, much less getting her pregnant??

i was driving her back and forth to school and trading sex for the gas money.
