Having troubles cooling 4 1000 watt lights

Hello RIU!

Just finished up my grow tent and I have 4 1000 watt lights air cool reflectors in it. I have 3 inline fans at my disposal(2 6 inch and 1 8 inch). I thought that would be enough but it isnt.. Maybe I need to approach it differently? I'm not utilizing the air cooling option for the reflectors but instead put the 8 inch and 1 6 inch as exhaust and the other 6 inch has an intake... Trying to keep it below 80.. The outside ambient temperature is below 80 when I have my lights on.. At most itll be 80 degrees inside the house due to the heat build up during the evening, but as I run them at night around 6am - 12pm the temps can get as low as 50 degrees at night.

My question is.. Should I be utilizing the air cooling option or am I just undersized with the fans? The 6 inch ones is around 450 CFM and the 8 inch is 700 CFM.

Its hard to say because we all have different climates but to generalise I would imagine your under powered extraction wise.
But obviously if heat is an issue you should be using your air cooled hoods properly.

It used to take me a good 8" fan with 900m3/h to air cool and extract 3x 600hps (in UK) so I imagine your underpowered

Get heaters installed to keep night temps up.

The outside of the light fixtures should also be thermally insulated so that they don't simply act as passive radiators
Used this method kind of on my DWC buckets. I wrapped Lowes buckets in Mylar after I painted them black....Noticed I dropped water temps a couple degrees without doing anything other then that.

I would say under sized on the fans bro - I use the same lighting and have 12inch exhaust and 10inch intake and still have to use a 9000btu AC during the warmer months

I know growboss i dumb and annoying, but this video demonstrates the correct way to insulate your lights if you are running HPS.

Great video! That helped a lot. Right now I only have 3 of the 4 lights on and the temps are stable. I believe if I insulate it and properly duct the lights I may be able to fix the heat issue. Thank you guys! :)
