Help a newbie with lights!

Hey this is my first post so nice to meet you all (: I've made my own pc grow box and its all ready to go except for the lights.

As its a small box I thought LED lights would be good as it would allow a few more inches of growth. Also it wouldn't get too hot.

But then I've heard that they are crazy expensive :S maybe cfls would be better? But I have seen a couple of led strip lights from toolstation that work out at £40 for four lights. I'm confused.

So basically what I'm asking for is your expert opinion on which set up I should use. Also I'm in the UK so I don't want to pay hundreds for postage from the US.

Cheers for the help, Howie (:

Hello and welcome. Now there is a lot of debate amongst most efficient light sources but I thought I'd drop a link or two for you to decide for yourself. This is one of my favorite small scale grows in a pc case (done with LED).

Also, LEDs initial cost is off-set by other factors, one being (if you take that road) doing it yourself (DIY). Not only can you get your LED cheaper, you can make it exactly how you want it. I may be preaching to the wrong choir but here's a link in case DIY LED ever captures your interest: DIY LED.

Best of luck and regards...

EDIT: I'm partial to LED, in case you couldn't tell!

Thanks for the help, am at work right now so can't see the full page ):

So any old LED kit won't do? Can you suggest any places that sell reasonably priced ones, preferably in the UK?

Cheers
