hey guys just looking for some help on my first ever grow any advice would be very appreciated

i wana start 6 auto hindu kush(feminized) plants under a 150w fluor. in rockwool cubes then pick out any males and put 4 in hydroton rocks in ghe aquafarms modified by drillillng more holes in the bottom of the top bucket and hooking up a stronger water pump using the old one attached to an airstone, under a badass 600w hps bulb on a 20/4 schedule. i will build a growbox that is aprox. 5 x 5 x 5ft and cover the inside with mylar, for ventilation i will have an 100 cfm can inline and exhaust fan set on a temp controller. ill also put co2 pellets and a small fan always running in the box. im not sure about my nut. schedule but i wana use adv. nutrients and jus half the dosage for the first few weeks. i was thinking jungle juice as a base with voodoo juice, b-52, piranha, tarantula, bud ignitor, bud factor x and final phase would work best and im tempted to try kushie kush but i don't think it big bud or bud candy would have very much effect in such a short growth period?(correct me if im wrong) i chose these because ive read that root development is very important in dwc hydro setups and micro nutrients are very beneficial for autoflowering strains along with mag/cal

bud quality is main factor for me

a few newb questions:

will using a better medium then the hydroton produce a better crop?

can i start them under the 600w if its dimmable?

would it be better to use an mh for this grow or to switch to it at some point in time?

any other nutrients that would benefit this strain?

Thanks for reading!, again any help at all is greatly appreciated
:eyesmoke:smoke dat kush

No way you can do that in that box with that light. That thing would be an oven. Why do you expect males in a feminized seed crop? Not that it has never happened but . . ..

Your nutrient soup is way overdone and unnecessary but spend away. No airstone is needed - you can jam the hose tip in the bottom weighted to keep it there and save some ridiculous money. Think first - pH meter in hand with its operation and calibration methods understood and already performed by you before you open the hydroton. A GOOD pH meter. Same with PPM meter (US) or EC (EU) but they are simpler and cheaper. Order the calibration solutions with the pH meter and the PPM if it requires them. With them, not later. The pH WILL require it or it's a piece of shit. Order 4.0 and 7.0 calibration solutions and 250 ML or bigger.

Read more but make it different stuff than you read before. KISS!

Yea that box would be an oven with that light. and you'll want to use the metal halide for grow the hps for flower. and get your self a grow bible for referance to easy problems with hydro growing...

@hotrodharley so would more ventilation help that or would i have to get a smaller light? and i wasn't planning to go all out on the nutes but i want them to experiment with and see which ones work best but thanks alot for the advice

@allen bud is it even worth investing in an mh the growth stage is very short for autos

Personally I use CFL to start and do at least early vegging with. Then I have begun using MH to complete vegging. Bought two high bay shop fixtures with bulbs (used) on craigslist for $20 each. Rewired so the ballast is on the floor. I did mine differently but there is a thread on using these fixtures. Yes it is worth the MH due to extreme vegetative growth using it compared to HPS. I have a 1000 watt HPS. I may leave these under the MH due to extreme heat issues where they are.

I feel somewhat qualified to answer YOUR specific question right now as I have just begun multiple hydros - new to hydro completely. This regarding the nutrients. I started with Advanced Nutrients Sensi Grow A&B. Period. My WWA took right off. I added a 6 unit with Vertigo and they were slower but still took off. The kid at the hydro store then suggested VooDoo Juice ($100 fucking bucks a bottle!!!) and B-52 (still $50!!!).

But I added them and am super glad I did. The root systems are incredible using the VooDoo. Both Vertigo and WWA are now getting AN Sensi Bloom. Still far reduced amounts of VooDoo and B-52. Honestly I see no need at present to add anything else. I'm sure other additives can make them lay on their ear and spin. For even more money.

I use the VDJ and B-52 well under their suggested amounts. I mean way under. Still got spectacular results.

The meters first though. Then check this out. I'm in the process of building this system. A 4' T5 would fit perfectly in your box.
