Help! I can't stop my timers from breaking

I am only using one 1000w HPS as of now on the timer, nothing else. I bought a manual timer which worked for the first month or so, and then gave out. I then bought a heavy duty digital timer (120vac,60Hz,15A) and it worked for about 4 days before it broke, I returned it for the same one thinking it was a bad package, and the next one fried the first time I plugged it in.
I have searched online for a few timers that might be able to handle more amps, but I have only found a 15A max. Anyone have any suggestions on what to do to fix this problem? or any recommendations for a Heavy duty timer to take the initial power surge from the ballast?

What brand of timer?

I have a Titan: Apollo 6, which is rated at 15a, and 1800w. It seems to be working fine...but im not running anything like a 1000w...

Id try them out, they make good stuff...If it still burns out...then maybe theres something up with your wiring or ballast or something.

If you're still hurting after that...you'll need to go contractor grade, which isnt "plug and play"....You'd have to wire it all up by hand.

I bought a GE timer for pumps/lights/fans from a Hardware store, I didn't think it would matter much where the timer came from, as long as it was heavy duty, but maybe I'm wrong?
