Help me decide...

So I am running a grow under 4 1000 watt hps and 4 315w CMH's. They are most definitely ready to flip, I have waited a little too late. Had to do a ton of reconditioning in my room and here in about an hour I am going to hook up the drip system and planned on flipping to 12/12.

The issue is, my grow is underground, literally. Concrete walls, concrete ceiling and my only option in getting more height out of the room is to dig our the floor deeper, which I cannot do at the moment. I have been growing in this new setup for going on 3 years and have pulled excellent harvests everytime.

So here is a more in depth explanation about the problem... So I started with 80 something plants. By time I removed all of the males I think I had around 50 females. Excellent ratio! From there I kept culling the weakest fems and ended up with 38 females that I decided to train. I LST'd all of them, after being topped twice. Then topped them all again for a third time, they are now growing out really well and growing fast. I need to flip ASAP, but plants including pots are about 3 foot tall, maybe 3 and a quarter.

My headroom is short and I always flip much sooner than this. The height of my room is right at 6 ft. So, should I go ahead and just flip them? I feel like they will be growing into the bulbs even with LST, can't spread them out a whole lot more due to the number of plants being so close together. Or, should I top them all down about 6 to 8 inches and then flower once they recover? That's the thing, I dont have time to wait for them to recover and I wont top then flip, did this before and it destroyed my yield. If I am going to top, I'm going to give at least a week for a good growth spurt after recovery.

Or.... option #2 would be to remove about 6 plants so that way I can tie and spread the branches out further and that should allow me to get away with it. But like I said, I need to figure something out really fast because I have to get them flowering asap.

I personally feel better thinking about option #2 so that way I can get on with the show... But it is so hard, extremely hard to pick 6 plants out to cull because they are all so fucking nice lol... Its a tough decision.

What do ya think???

What about flipping them as is, and selectively pruning, bending, unruly branches when (if) necessary?
You've never had to bend a branch over in the past during flowering?

Not saying that it can't cause an issue, but personally I have yet to encounter any of the "boogie man" consequences of literally folding branches over, well into flower. Like supercrop, stem smashing, folds....many times. And I'll do it again.
Maybe I'm running lucky I dunno?

If I we're a gambling man (I am) I'd run em as is and cross each bridge as it comes.

Yes, I have bent plenty along the way. I have done about everything a person can possibly do to a plant lol. I have been growing for 18 years now, it's how I make a living. 10 years indoor...

My anxiety has just got aggravated over it. I have short head space and have always been aware of it since constructing my new room, so I have never vegged them this large. You're right. I am just going to flip them now. If I see any under performers I will cull a few as I go along the way, and do my best synchronizing the lights "on/off" temps to help control stretch. Use a bit of kelp, triacontanol to help with stretch as well (always worked for me in the past).

Once the nodes are staggering you can just top again and it will just grow from the one node.
