help me it wont take long 1 2minutes

hi every one quick question
i just got a 1000w mh Ballast
and wanna see if it works its secondhand
i have a 250w mh globe going in my grow
what happens if i put that in the socket
4 a short time just to see if it works
please help i goggled it and found no help

It will go bang and you will have no lamps at all, that's why there's various bulb wattages.

hopefully it comes on,other than that nothing will happen!

ill wait till the weekend and buy the right bulb
i knew i should not be doing this
if i get a 1000w mh and put it in a 900mmx900mmx1900mm room do you think that this would be total overkill
i have a lot of fans and suckers so venting is no issue

More light the better. Nothing is over kill if you can vent it.

A thousand watter in such a small space will create LOTS of heat and could quite possibly bleach your plants to death with too much light (111W per square foot!).

If you have a local hydro shop they might be willing to swap your 1KW MH ballast for a 600W MH ballast(or a HPS with dual spectrum lamp!)
