Help! Plant has yellow discoloration and brown spots

Hey im a new rollitup forum member whats up guys. I have used information on rollitup before and its been very useful.

Alright, so today im wondering if anyone can help me identify what the problem is for my little pot plant. Here are my specifications

I use an OttLite model v80112 and here is the link for it http://estate-books-and-collectibles.ecrater.com/p/8213733/ottlite-high-definition-13w-black

I water my plant only when the soil on top is crusty and dry.
I use tap water only after letting it sit for at least 24 hours to remove the chlorine.
The soil I use is Miracle Grow potting mix.
I use no fertilizers or feed
This seed is from a corn sack my dealer sold me. No chronic or anything.
The plant is about 6 inches away from the Ottlite

Recently I bought a Brinks mechanical timer from wally world and it never worked properly. For the past 7 days or so the light schedule for my plant has been inconsistent, due to the malfunctioning Brinks timer. (I called customer support and they are sending me a newer model for free.)

Since it sprouted I had the Ottlite on it for 20 hours on and 4 hours off. I turned the light off at 12 noon and turned it back on at 4pm. While it was on this light schedule I had it under a sink, which provided good humidity and a constant temperature.

Recently, I moved it to the place you can see now in the pictures and changed the light schedule. I know this is bad and stresses the plant. I had my own reasons for doing this.

The new light schedule is still 20/4 but I turn the light off at 8pm and have it come on at midnight.

It has recently shown (past week) discoloration on the leaves. It’s a slight tint of yellow On one leaf where it looks the worst. I see small light brown areas starting to appear. The yellow tint seems to originate from the end of the leaf and heads toward the stem. I started to notice this when I moved it to its new location about a week ago.

Also the first leaves, called cotyledons i believe, became yellow and wilted so i clipped them off with nail clippers. I thought this might be a good idea so the plant can concentrate on making new leaves and stuff. You can see where I cut them off in one of the pictures.

I will upload better pictures for you guys later today when I borrow a better camera.
Some of the pictures that are fuzzy you can kind of see the yellow tint I’m talking about.
Any help at all would be appreciated.

hmm what comes to mind with me is, does the mg soil have fert already in it? if so it might be to strong for a seedling and is very lightly burning her or the ph is off which is very possible with mg soil most likely its to low. also you shouldnt have to water her at all for quite some time she hasn't even got roots to the bottom of the pot yet.

Yes i checked the MG bag and here is what it says
Net Weight: 2.5lb (1.1kg)
Miracle-grow potting mix 0.21-0.07-0.14
Guaranteed Analysis F1144
Total Nitrogen (N)* 0.21%
0.12% ammoniacal nitrogen
0.09% nitrate nitrogen
Available Phosphate (P2O5)* 0.07%
Soluble potash (K2O)* 0.14%
Iron (Fe) 0.10%
0.10% water soluble iron (Fe)

Derived from: polymer-coated: ammonium nitrate, ammonium phosphate, calcium phosphate, and potassium sulfate;
ammonium nitrate, ammonium phosphate, calcium phosphate, potassium sulfate, ferrous sulfate

*A portion of the nitrogen, phosphate and potash has been coated to provide 0.15% coated slow release nitrogen (N), 0.03% coated slow release available phosphate (P2O5),
and 0.08% coated slow release soluble potash (K2O).

could i get some specific answers please? Im a first time grower and im not exactly sure what you mean by "give it food". If you are referring to fertilizer i think there is already too much in there. keepitreal says it might be fert burn.

I honestly have no idea what to do. Just today, the yellow has spread and the brown spots are getting larger and more of them are popping up. Should I let it keep growing and not water it for a while? What should i do? If anyone needs more information to tell me what I need to do I will gladly find it out and let you know.

what i mean is give it nutrients
ur plant is suffering from a nitrogen deficiency
the guaranteed analysis u showed that was listed on the bag is not high at all...which leads me to that conclusion
ur plant definately needs to be fed
follow other advice at ur own risk

im assuming i can go to home depot or walmart garden center and tell them im looking for fertilizer with a 3-1-2 ratio and they will know what im talking about. and 1/4 strength, so like for every 3 part water i use 1 part fert?

I've said it a thousand times before and i'll say it again. Your problem is your soil. There will be growers on here that will say, " i use miracle grow and look at my journal". Bla bla bla. For a newbie it sucks. You have to learn to use it. And then your dealing with chemicalz that release every time you water. Your babies cant handle it. You are burned my friend by the soil. Period

idk if they will know what u r talking about
when i say 1/4 strength, mix 1/4 what it says on the directions...for example,if it says mix 4 tsp per gallon....then mix 1 tsp,ph it to 6.5,and give it to ur plant

it is hungry,plain and simple
give it food
BAD ADVICE!
i know this guy has 2000 plus posts? Your plant is over fed because of the time released nutes. If you want to have a chance to save them, do not give them any more nutes. Trust me theyve had too much already. One love
