Help Selecting a Light

Hey, can anyone caost over to HTG supply.com for me and tell me what I should get as a light? I know its sorta an out there request but weve all felt like not thinking. I have my seeds, 10 Mandala Satori with some (5) freebee HazexSkunk and I framed up a room thats about 12x12x7'

Im thinking I want a digital ballast, do the befits outweigh the cost?

I have about 300 cash, can go higher or lower but thats the target.

Should go with 1000 watter? Seems too much, 400 seems a little....little... So im liking 600 but again I have no experience beyond trolling these forums. As I immagine it I would use the 600 for my first few grows and step up to a 1000 and reneg the 600 to vegging moms and clones.

My biggest deal is that I cant figure out what reflector to get..air cooled, umbrella style, the default max wing. I need you guys to reflect on that as well.

So thats my deal, as soon as I get the light I start growing, thinking about starting the seeds and getting them in some light warrior under a few CFLs in a few days. If you guys can help me out I would love everything and send you some weed in the mail :hump: Thanks!

(Only emoticon I like is the humping smiley...weird)

Look at the 600w reflectorized type of "gavita" lamp. They have the best pattern of any lamp. I have used them and they are fantastic, and since there is no external reflector to trap the heat, you natural room air will cool them just fine. I love them. Actually I use 2 x 400W, but the 600W actually puts out more lumens per watt.

sort depends on how many plants you're going to go with....you have 15 seeds (doing all together?) and 144 sq ft of floor space......10sq ft per plant....or what arrangement were you conmsidering...prolly not using the entire floor space to house plants?.....maybe 2 - 400W is a good idea? or three or two 600W....I have read that a decent rule of thumb is 50W per plant....but what it really comes down to is lumens/light energy at floor level....thats what you need to accomplish....optimal light is very critical - and compromises will be translated directly into speed, yeild and quality changes.

How many amperes is your electric service? this is a major consideration as setting the house on fire is a sure way to get busted. People should have a basic understanding of electrics, or know someone who does. when planning a grow room. Do not by-pass meter, you will go to jail!! they will catch you! Good luck and keep in growing.

Yeah bite the bullet and get a 1000 watt lamp and ballast and a reflector (air cooled if you need to control temps). Go to it. Good Luck, and keep on growing

I'm just setting my system also.

Veg room I'm currently using a 4x4 ebb & flow tray with a 40 gal res. I'm using a New Wave T5 48 flourecent for my main light. I just picked up a Sun System Bright wing with a 150 watt Eco Plus flourecent to supplement the main light. This light will be used for my mothers when there ready. I'm growing 40 plants from seed and hopefully will wind up with 20 females. The plants are flourishing under these lights so I can definetly recommend them for your Veg station. I will be switching to a 3 x3 tray for veg after the 1st grow because I will only be growing 20 plants looking for the best 12 to flower. The new wave 48 T5 should be perfect for my 3x3 tray.

Check out my grow report for progress.

I've been struggling on which light to use for my flower room. I think I've decided to use the Cooltubes. I've been reading the forums and talking a lot with my friend at the hydro store. My flower room will be 8x5 and I think I will use 2 1000 watt HPS with digital ballasts. I'm going to use a Can 100 carbon scrubber with a 1000 cfm fan to drive air through the lights and then into the attic. I'm leaning towards the ebb & flow pots for my growing medium although I really light the areo systems.

Hope this help good luck:hump:
